The program is unique because it includes unscripted television, commercial and still photography, in addition to feature films and scripted television. Created by the Santa Barbara County Film Commission, this innovative incentive program provides a cash rebate for eligible productions that book a minimum number of room nights in specified areas of the County. Film Commissioner Geoff Alexander says, “We’re incredibly excited about launching this program. By including still photography production, commercials, and unscripted television, we have created an incentives program which is entirely unique in the State of California. We believe that word will travel fast that Santa Barbara County wants this business.” Santa Barbara County has always been a filming mecca, and in 2010 celebrated its 100th year of filmmaking. Before Hollywood, this coastal city was the hub of California's film industry and home to the state’s first major movie studio, the legendary Flying A Studio (1910), and early pioneers during the silent-film era. Some well- known films to use Santa Barbara County as a backdrop include: The Ten Commandments (1923), The Graduate (1967), Seabiscuit (2003), Sideways (2004), Grindhouse (2006), Pirates of the Caribbean III: At World's End (2007), There Will Be Blood (2007) and It’s Complicated (2009), which starred Santa Barbara as the setting for the film. -

Dialogue and Mutual Understanding PRESS RELEASE UN to appoint actress Monique Coleman as Youth Champion New York, 16 November: The UN will appoint Disney actress and youth activist Monique Coleman as a “Youth Champion” for the International Year of Youth at a press conference today. Ms. Coleman is best known for her character Taylor McKessie in the “High School Musical” movies and her recurring role as Mary-Margaret on “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”. Most recently, she launched an online talk show, “Gimme MO'”, to empower youth. The American actress, a long-time advocate for improving the social and economic well-being of young peo- ple, says "I am extremely passionate about youth and look forward to highlighting the amazing ways they are already making a difference.” Assistant Secretary-General Jomo Kwame Sundaram in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs will present Ms. Coleman with a letter of recognition as a UN Youth Champion to promote the International Year. The International Year of Youth was launched on 12 August 2010 and runs through 11 August 2011. Youth, defined by the United Nations as people between the ages of 15 to 24, represent 18 per cent of the world’s population, or 1.2 billion people. The Year provides an opportunity to recognize that young people in all countries are a major human resource for development, positive social change and technical innovation. It aims to advance their full participation on youth-related issues in global, regional and national development agendas. Nov. 26, 2014 Turner Classic Movies, Walt Disney World Resort and The Walt Disney Studios Team Up to Share Stories Centered on Classic Film Features Include New TCM Integration in Theme Park Attraction and On-Air Showcase of Disney Treasures Turner Classic Movies (TCM) today announced new strategic relationships with Walt Disney World Resort and The Walt Disney Studios to broaden its reach in family entertainment with joint efforts centered on classic film. At Disney's Hollywood Studios, the "The Great Movie Ride" Attraction highlights some of the most famous film moments in silver screen history and is set to receive a TCM-curated refresh of the pre-show and the finale. TCM branding will be integrated into the attraction's marquee as well as banners, posters and display windows outside the attraction. In the queue line, families will enjoy new digital movie posters and will watch a new pre-ride video with TCM host Robert Osborne providing illuminating insights from the movies some of which guests will experience during the ride. The finale will feature an all-new montage of classic movie moments. After guests exit the attraction, they will have a photo opportunity with a classic movie theme.
