When Team Elite’s Kathleen Baker touched the wall at the finish of the women’s 100 meter backstroke at this summer’s U.S. nationals, she looked at the scoreboard, thrust her left arm into the air and spun around 360 degrees. A major event took place in [email protected] August 2018 when Sports Publications International—Parent Corporation of Swimming Accounting - Marcia Meiners World—transferred its stock to the International Swimming Hall of Fame. The transaction [email protected] brings more financial stability to ISHOF and allows the transition of Swimming World Magazine subscribers to become ISHOF members, and Swimming World advertisers to EDITORIAL, PRODUCTION, MERCHANDISING, MARKETING AND become ISHOF sponsors. The most significant event was the announcement that the City of Fort Lauderdale Senior Editor - Bob Ingram will invest $27 million to renovate and upgrade the aquatic center, which will begin [email protected] reconstruction as early as March of 2019 and should be completed in July of 2020. Managing Editor - Dan D’Addona As a result of the upgrades, there has been much interest in major events returning to [email protected] Fort Lauderdale on a national and international basis. The infusion of new dollars for the Assistant Managing Editor - Annie Grevers facility has created excitement for the city and ISHOF that will surely extend to upgrades [email protected] in the museum and its displays. Design Director - Joseph Johnson The month following the city’s $27 million approval to renovate the aquatic center, Historian - Bruce Wigo ISHOF and the Fort Lauderdale City Commissioners came to terms on a 30-year lease, Staff Writers - Michael J. Within that Michael Randazzo agreement, the city has agreed to work with ISHOF to revert the name of the aquatic Fitness Trainer - J.R.     SWIMMER’S NEWSLETTER FOR PRINCETON TIGER AQUATICS CLUB Tigers are Back in the Pool! by: Aditi Pavuluri It’s been a strange past few months for swimmers across the country, and one of the few times in history where there have been no competitions or practice taking place. The Olympics were postponed for the first time ever, and competitive swimmers across the globe are wondering when they can start competing again. As of two weeks ago, swimmers have taken to the pool for the first time in months. To pass the time, they’ve been working out over Zoom, and doing as much work as they could while still socially distanced. By working on technique, starts, turns, and speed, the Tigers have been trying to get in as much swimming as they can to make up for lost time. It will be a fresh start for us, and a way to start using muscles that haven’t been awoken in months. And though we’ve been staying in shape, we might not necessarily have been staying in swimming shape. Getting back into the pool is something that every swimmer is having to experience, and know that we’re in this together. So right now is the perfect time to improve on something that you’ve been holding off on during competition season. Our perspective might have to change from “getting back to where we came from” to “how far we can go”. Take advantage of this new and unusual time to better yourself as a swimmer. Go Tigers!
