We have a real variety of stalls with face painting, lucky jars, shoot the goalie, bouncy castle and the children’s Tombola. There is even a mini “car boot” run by some of the children. Approach the infamous ‘Water Dunker’ with care - your children will insist you take a soaking! After getting wet, you may well be in need of refreshment - choose from the luscious BBQ, popular PIMMS and beer tents, Dorset Cream Teas or the cake stall. There are plenty of chances to walk away with something special in the Silent Auction, Tombola, Raf e or the Lucky Programme Draw, with lots of exciting donated prizes. TWO local landlords have donated DINNER - The Charlton Inn and True Lovers Knot have provided these fantastic prizes. Each copy of this Programme has a lucky number on the front, so the more programmes you buy – the more chance you have of winning! Our public spirited local businesses have generously supported the school by advertising with us, providing special offers and raf e prizes. They clearly deserve our support in return! • Assessment of Settlements Based on Population and Community Facilities
Appendix 1 North Dorset District Council Local Development Framework Assessment of Settlements Based on Population and Community Facilities Supporting Document to the Core Strategy: Issues and Options Paper May 2007 1.0 Introduction Scope and Purpose of the Report 1.1 In light of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and Planning Policy Statement 12: Local Development Frameworks, North Dorset District Council is undertaking evidence gathering work to assist in the preparation of its Local Development Framework (LDF), which will have regard to, and will contribute to, the achievement of sustainable development. 1.2 The main objective of this report is to identify and audit the current services and facilities presently found in all settlements within the District and the resident population of those settlements. This report will be used as part of the evidence base in the production of the Council’s Core Strategy. 1.3 This supporting document aims to generate options for the identification of sustainable settlements. These towns and villages will be the focus for future development and will be shown with a settlement boundary in the Council’s Core Strategy. 1.4 This report serves as only a part of the evidence base which will inform the production of the Council’s Core Strategy. Full stakeholder and community consultation will be undertaken, following the statutory requirements of the ‘new’ planning system, and the corporate objectives of the Council, in order that the final decisions made by the Council are fully informed by the views of the District’s communities. The Local Plan and Emerging Regional Spatial Strategy 1.5 A primary strategy of the Local Plan is to concentrate development, especially that defined as major, to the main settlements in the District.

The Institute of Freshwater Ecology is part of the Terrestrial and Freshwater Sciences Directorateof the Natural EnvironmentResearchCouncil. CONCLUSIONS In 1992 (as in 1989 and 1991) TEKNAR HP-D (Bti) was found to be an effective simuliicide when used against the larvae of Simuliwn posticatum under the conditions prevailing in the River Stour. Laboratory tests using larvae of Sitnulium posticaturn showed that the approved concentration (0.8 ppm for ten minutes) of Bri (used in the preceding year's trials) was still effective but that a lesser concentration (0.4 ppm for ten minutes) substantially reduced mortality (77%) showing that the permitted dose is approaching the lowest effective concentration. Following preliminary surveys, six sites on the main river were selected for treatment and the furthest upstream (Blandford) and the penultimate downstream (Wimborne) of these were used for monitoring the effects of treatment. Current meter measurements were used to calculate discharges and to permit suitable dilutions of Bti to be achieved.
