Dubai is a city poised between its history as a rich Arab trading post and its 21st century modernity.
Discover the Emirate's economic, social and cultural history in the Dubai museum located in Al Fahidi Fort. Stroll around enjoying the fragrances of the spice market, then browse through the Gold Souk and the textile market.
Go on to admire the sunset from the 124th floor of Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower and end the day with a little shopping in Dubai Mall.
72 DUBAI - United Arab Emirates What to see and do in each area
Bur Dubai (the historic west side of the city)
Bastakiya: an intimate, picturesque neighbourhood with narrow winding streets full of bazaars and lined with old houses built of white coral.
Al Fahidi Fort (Dubai museum): the fort bears witness to the Emirate's past economic, social and cultural history, having previously served as garrison, prison and residence to the Emirate's rulers. A window into the Bedouin lifestyle of the 20th century.
Grande Mosque: surmounted by 54 domes and decorated with stained glass panels, this majestic house of prayer has a 70m minaret, the tallest in the city. Warning: the mosque is closed to non-Muslims.
Dubai Souk: made up of small bazaars whose stalls are packed with clothing, miscellaneous household items and kitsch souvenirs. It is admittedly full of tourists but is also much patronized by the local Indian population.
Burjuman Centre: this is one of Dubai's biggest and most chic shopping malls, boasting 190 stores and cafés including many haute couture label boutiques and games areas. Be sure to take time to watch the amazing shooting water jets of the decorative fountains.
Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House: a beautiful example of traditional
architecture, now a museum housing a collection of old photographs.

In the late 40’s, this area became a center of intellectual and cultural life in Paris enjoying the gathering atmosphere of the Café Les Deux Magots and the Café de Flore. Small shops and bookstores give to Saint-Germain-des-Prés a village look alike.
In the near neighborhood, you can admire the Pantheon, a monument that honors French personalities and recalls some important events of the history of France. It was originally a church dedicated to Sainte Genevieve. It will be deeply modified in the 18th century to become a secular place.
The National Museum of the Middle Ages and the Thermes de Cluny are situated in the Latin Quarter in a mansion of the 15th century. It has one of the world's largest collections of tapestry and craft works of medieval art. At 49 Rue Monge, you can also admire Les Arenes de
Lutece : constructed in the 1st century as Gallo-roman amphitheater.

Other notable buildings to visit include the Conciergerie and the Sainte Chapelle, let you also stroll yourself in the very small and beautiful flower market. Just upstream of the Ile de la CitéCochin, there’s the Ile Saint Louis, a jewel on the Seine with old noble apartments, small restaurants and tiny shops that make the charm of this part of the French capital.

Athens has two faces: a city full of history and sumptuous, imposing monuments. On the other side, a more spontaneous and popular city. This is what makes the richness of this Mediterranean city. Ancient Athens
The Roman Agora and the Tower of the winds: In the first century, the Romans moved the Ancient Agora (Agora of Athens) to the current Roman Agora. Smaller than the original, the courtyard with marble pillars was a huge room where there were many shops. This « second » Agora worth the trip to see the Tower of the Winds which was used as a clock. Of course, do not hesistate to visit the classic Agora.
The Acropolis and the Parthenon: Located in the center of Athens, the Acropolis is where we find lot of remains. The Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the goddess Athenae, is the most famous one, and it is located at the top of the site.
The Temple of Olympian Zeus: The majestic temple of pantheon’s sovereign, was the largest of the Greek mainland. Inside overlooked two colossal statues of gold and ivory: one of the god Zeus and the other of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Although, the construction of the temple began in 515 B,C, the
construction of the temple was completed in the year 131 by Emperor Hadrian,

Ancient Athens
The Hill of the Muses– Philopappos Monument: In front of the Acropolis there is the Philopappos monument: Maze of paths, shaded by pine trees leading to monuments that have marked centuries of history. Known as a source of inspiration during the Antiquity with the name « The Hill of the Muses », for many poets at all times. Every year, the first day of Lent, hundreds of Athenians gather at the top in order to fly kites and perpetuate the tradition. From there, you have a beautiful view of the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill.
National Archeological Museum of Athens: It’s one of the most important museum in the world. There are famous and influential works from cultures of the Bronze Age described by Homer, in the Golden Age of ancient Greece and beyond. The temporary closure of a part of the museum in 1999 provided an opportunity to renovate the exposure already invaluable.
The Lycabette: The Lycabette is a hill that stands in the middle of Athens and offers breathtaking views over the city. A cable car can reach the top where St. George’s Chapel is.
