versus The original Bootle F.C. were formed in 1880 and played at Hawthorne Road. In 1889–90 Liverpool Challenge Cup Bootle became founder members of the 1964-65, 1975-76, Football Alliance. That season was the most 1978-79 successful as we finished league runners-up, reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, Liverpool Amateur Cup where we lost to Rovers (0-7). When the Alliance 1965-66, 1967-68, merged with the Football League in 1892, Bootle became 1973-74 founder members of the new Second Division. However, despite a respectable 8th place final position, the club dropped out after Liverpool County one season (and were replaced by neighbours Liverpool) and FA Youth Cup seemingly disappeared due to financial problems. 1977-78, 1984-85, 1990-91, Football returned to Hawthorne Road when a new club, Bootle Athletic. was later formed with the new team initially playing in 1999-00, 2005-06 Amateur Cup the Liverpool Leagues. In 1948 when the club were elected to All our yesterdays….. the Lancashire Combination 2, which was won at the first 1970 attempt. However, Bootle struggled in the top-flight and after Liverpool County several tough seasons withdrew and folded during the 1953–54 campaign. Combination Champions 1964-65, 1965-66, 1967-68, In 1953, the current club was 1968-69, 1969-70, 1970-71, formed as Langton and played in the local leagues. After a very 1971-72, 1972-73, 1973-74 successful spell in the Liverpool Lancashire County County Combination (which we Combination Champions won on numerous occasions) the 1975-76, 1976-77 club reverted back to it’s Cheshire County League It’s better known identity of Bootle F.C. in 1973; and a year later joined the Lancashire Combination, which we won in 1976 and Div Two Champions 1977. Bootle then joined the Second Division of the Cheshire 1978-79 County League, which was won in our first season, and we were North West Counties League promoted to the First Division. In 1982 the Cheshire County Div Two Runners-up League was one of the leagues that merged to form the North West Counties League, which Bootle duly joined, becoming a 1992-93 member of the First Division. The club spent most of their time in Tennants Floodlit Trophy the First Division until 2000 when we unfortunately dropped into Winners the Second Division. However, despite finishing 6th in 2002, the 1993-94 club dropped into the Liverpool County Combination. In 2006 Vodkat League Challenge Cup the club, with a new ground, were elected back into Division 2 of the North West Counties League. In 2009 Bootle won Runners-up promotion to the NWCL Premier Division and also won the 2007-08 Championship. In 2009/10, our first season back in the Vodkat Vodkat League Bootle finished a NWCFL highest placing of 3rd. Reserve Division Winners In 2010/11 despite a shaky start Bootle finished a respectable 6th place. 2007-08, 2009-10 Runners-up With the club continuing to grow off the field, all eyes are on what can be produced on 2008-09 the field this season, with the NWCFL Premier Vodkat League First Division Division a firm goal in what could be Champions another success for this fast growing club 2008-09 looking to progress again.
