The drives feature data compression hardware which provides an effective data rate of up to 12 MB/second and a cartridge capacity of up to 80 GB (with 2:1 compression) on DLTtape IV media. The 7337 features cartridge slot storage capacities of 15, 30, 45, and 60 cartridges, providing total capacities of 0.6 TB, 1.2 TB, 1.8 TB, and 2.4 TB of native data. With compression, the library can store 4.8 TB of data. The Model 360 can be field upgraded to increase the capacity from 15 cartridges and one drive, to up to 60 cartridges and six drives. The 7337 library comes standard with a one-cartridge I/O station. The I/O station can be upgraded to a 10-cartridge capacity with optional feature number 8012. The I/O station can be defined as I/O slots or data storage, and the definition affects the number of cartridges available for data storage. Options are chosen at setup time. You can to configure the I/O station as five storage slots plus ten I/O slots or as fifteen storage slots. Storage is also determined by the combination of features number 8009 (15-slot column) and number 8012 (10-cartridge I/O station). The results are described in the following table: Optional Additional Slot Total Data I/O Port Feature Capacity Storage Capability None 15 15 1 One #8009 15 30 1 Two #8009 30 45 1 One #8012 15 20 or 30 10 or 0 One #8009 30 35 or 45 10 or 0 plus One #8012 Two #8009 45 50 or 60 10 or 0 plus One #8012 Note: Although the DLT8000 tape drive in the 7337 provides the capability for high tape performance, other components of the system may limit the actual performance achieved. The compression technology used in the tape drive can typically double the amount of data that can be stored on the media; however, the actual degree of compression achieved is highly sensitive to the characteristics of the data being compressed. Each IBM 7337 Digital Linear Tape Library has a display on the front panel that is used for displaying status and error codes. An operator control panel with an LCD display is on the front of the machine and provides status information and menu options. From this panel, the operator can initiate actions such as moving and loading tape cartridges or invoking diagnostics. A key lock provides front door locking. The IBM 7337 Digital Linear Tape Library is designed for stand-alone operation but an optional rack-mounting kit allows installation into an ANSI/EIA standard 19-inch rack with 14 EIA units of space. For customers requiring extra redundancy in their storage operations, an additional DC power supply option is available. The DLT8000 tape drive supports the DLTtape IV data cartridge, designed for increased tape speeds and high-density data recording. Euro Currency This product is not impacted by euro currency. Product Positioning As you compare competitive tape solutions, consider: • Library scalability: 1 to 6 drives, 15 to 60 cartridges • Capacity and performance requirements • Data integrity, reliability, and availability • Storage usage and application requirements • Affordability • Loyalty to legacy or existing tape formats The IBM 7337 Digital Linear Tape Library and industry-leading software applications lead in addressing these requirements, and constitute a functionally rich tape storage solution incorporating DLT8000 tape technology. You also gain flexibility of automated tape library management and unattended save/restore operations. 101-061 -2- The IBM 7337 Digital Linear Tape Library contains from one to six DLT8000 tape drives with 40 GB native capacity and up to 80 GB with typical 2:1 hardware data compression. This increased capacity, combined with up to 60 cartridges available for use, extends the total library capacity up to 4.8 TB of compressed data. Multiple drives provide additional enhanced functions, such as faster transfer of data, simultaneous backup, concurrent read-write operations, and fault tolerance. IBM offers a wide variety of tape drives and tape library products to meet your removable data storage needs. A quick comparison chart is presented for you to compare library capacities and data rates. Refer to the specific product documentation for precise data rates, drive configurations, and library configurations. The table is sorted by increasing overall library or drive capacity.
