743 Route 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054 • 410-923-9925 MATTIE FENTON began her training at the age of six with the Carter School of Dance in Severna Park, Maryland where she passed grades I-V in professional Cecchetti training. Throughout her years in high school she participated in various pre-professional dance programs such the Washington Ballet and Peabody Dance. At the age of fifteen Mattie was given the opportunity to train as an apprentice with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland. She has been awarded as a Maryland Distinguished Scholar for Talent in the Dance Award, which is a four-year educational scholarship contract to any Maryland college. Mattie has worked with Wood’s Memorial Pre sbyterian Church in Severna Park, MD to help create a praise dance group. From the summers of 2007-2009 Mattie has received extensive training from The Peabody Institute, Parson’s Dance, and seven weeks with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. During the summer of 2010 Mattie worked as an intern for the Towson University’s Community Dance program as an assistant manager to educational services. Mattie is currently a dance performance and education major at Towson University where she trains under the leadership of Runqiao Du from the Washington Ballet and former dancer and M.F.A professor Catherine Horta-Hayden. She has been teaching and choreographing at various studios in the Maryland region for over four years and will receive her K-12 teaching certificate in December 2011.

ESTHER GEIGER is a CMA (Certified Laban Movement Analyst). She has applied her Movement Analysis training in various fields, including dance, playground design, yoga, personnel administration and audio description. She has served as Administrator at Unity Woods Yoga Center since 1988 and has taught yoga for over 20 years. She consults with Audio Description Associates (ADA), producing specialized description to make dance films and live performances accessible to people with visual impairments. She has created dance description for Axis Dance, Tamar Rogoff Performance Projects and Karina Epperlein Films; has offered training in movement description at the National Captioning Institute, Montgomery College and the Laban/Bartenieff Institute for Movement Studies; and has lectured on movement and dance description at conferences in Europe and the U.S.

MEGAN MORSE JANS is a graduate of Kent State University, where in 2002 she received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. While at Kent, Megan had the opportunity to study with Andrea Shearer, Kimberly Karpanty, Tommy Parlon and Dr. Darwin Prioleau. During her stay at Kent, she was fortunate to be able to participate in guest artist residencies by Karen Love, Chung-Fu Chang, Peter Kyle, the Dance Alloy of , and Bridgman/Packar. Since graduation, Megan has danced professionally for Ground Zero Dance Company, Tommy Parlon Dance Projects, Air Dance Bernasconi and she spent three seasons with award winning BosmaDance. While dancing with Air Dance Bernasconi, Jans studied aerial work with Therese Keagan and Elsie and Serenity Smith (the Trapeze Twins MEGAN MORSE JANS CONTINUED... formerly of Cirque du Soleil). In 2006, she founded her company, DragonFly Dance Experiment with fellow DC dancer Danica Kalemdaroglu. Since then, DDE has been seen on stages in Washington DC, New York City, Richmond, Va. and at home in Annapolis, Md. Currently on faculty at Anne Arundel Community College, she teaches Introduction to Dance a class that combines dance history with movement, as well as Jazz, Ballet and Technique. Megan is proud to have served as a dance expert on the Maryland State Arts Council Grand Panel for 2006 and 2007 and is a 2009 recipient of a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award in . For the past 6 years, Megan has been practicing Vinyasa Yoga, and in 2008 she completed her teacher training with Shiva Rae affiliate Maria Garre.

KRISTIN BROWN-MAKI grew up in Tampa Florida, where she was a graduate of Howard W. Blake High School of the Performing Arts. She received her early training around Central Florida before joining the Florida Dance Theatre (formerly the Lakeland Ballet). She was the Donald Bryd/Ruth Eckerd Hall Dance Scholarship recipient, the First Place winner at the National Society of Arts and the Letter Ballet Career Competition, and was recognized as a merit Award recipient from the National Endowment of the Arts. Kristin continued her dance education on scholarship at the University of South Florida working towards her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance. She has danced professionally with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Brandon Ballet, United Nations of Dance, THINK Dance Company, and Bowen McCauley Dance. Kristin taught extensively in the Tampa area for three years before relocating to Maryland where she has continued to teach at Design in Motion Dance Studio and other local schools.

ANNE MAGILL O’BRIEN grew up in Bryan, TX. While in college at the University of Texas she danced with and choreographed for the UT Dance Team, and was a member of Third Coast Jazz Dance Company. She and her husband moved to Illinois in 1997 where Anne began teaching at Art In Motion Dance Studio, also choreographing and coaching for its nationally recognized competition team. While in Illinois Anne had diverse dance opportunities ranging from choreographing for a future Miss America and the local Nutcracker performance, to performing in a production of West Side Story and an independent film, Développé. After moving to Maryland in 2003, she completed her second degree, in Dance Performance and Education, from Towson University. She danced 8 seasons with Common Ground Dance Company. She currently teaches and choreographs at Dancemoves Studio of Dance where she is also the Troupe Rehearsal Director. Anne’s choreography has won many regional and national awards. Her students have won top awards, titles and scholarships. She has also been on the other side of the competition stage, judging for Star Systems. Her proudest achievements are Daniel, 5, and Lucie, 2. CARRIE HAMMOND-ROEMER is a graduate of Baltimore School for the Arts and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual and performing arts from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She has performed and studied under Gregory Hines, Hinton Battle, Liz Walton, Adam Parson and other well established performers and teachers. She is Managing Director of Common Ground Dance Company as well as an Arts In Communities panelist for the Maryland State Arts Council. Carrie currently is on staff at Design In Motion Dance Studio and Dancemoves. Carrie enjoys teaching all styles of dance from ballet and lyrical to jazz, tap and hip hop. She is a certified D.A.R.E. dance instructor and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with a concentration in Dance from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

BRANDON RUSSELL is a native of Fort Worth, TX. He began his dance training late at the age of 17 at Dian West Dance Studio, Texas Ballet Theatre School and Debbie Allen Dance Academy. In 2001, Brandon was named NYCDA's regional outstanding senior male and won NDA's best senior male dancer national title. Brandon continued his academic and training at Southern Methodist University studying a variety of dance techniques and composition, where his choreographic aspirations were nurtured by Larry White and Nathan Montoya. While attending SMU Brandon was awarded numerous scholarships and trained all over the country, including such prestigious institutions as Edge Performing Arts, The Ailey School, Dance Theatre of Harlem School, Joffery Ballet School, Houston Ballet School and many more. Upon leaving SMU Mr. Perry-Russell moved to New York, to pursue his career in dance. He has performed with Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble, Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre, Lydia Johnson Dance, Errol Grimes Dance Group, Rohan Bearden Contemporary Ballet, Balance Dance Theatre, Subtle Changes Inc. Mr. Perry-Russell has taught ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, gymnastics and choreographed for various companies, schools, studios, fine arts programs, summer intensives and is a proud founding choreographer and Operations Manager for Bad Boys of Dance.

SARITA SANGHVI has very humble beginnings in dance and performing arts since the age of four in the United Kingdom. Her love began when her parents put her in her first ballet class and she was hooked! When she migrated to the states with her parents, she was able to continue in her studies in private lessons studying vocal performance, ballet, tap and jazz till the age of 12. At the age of 15, she began to dabble in world dance and studied the art of South Asian dance in the genres of Bharat Natyam and Kathak. She further enhanced her love of world dance by attending collegiate level classes in African and creative modern dance workshops. Her life long interest in dance performance has been what inspired her to give back to the performing arts community by achieving her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy with a focus in pediatrics, motor learning and orthopedics. She is currently a licensed physical therapist practicing for the past 15 years in the local Baltimore Washington SARITA SANGHVI CONTINUED... area and specializes in dance related injuries. She is also a certified Zumba instructor and plans on returning back to school to complete her doctorate degree in physical therapy. In her spare time, Sarita enjoys community service and spending time with her beautiful family and dogs.

SERENE WEBBER is a teacher and Studio Manager for Design In Motion Dance Studio. Serene holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance from Towson University. While at Towson she was fortunate to study at the Bates Summer Dance Intensive, Martha Graham’s Winter Intensive, Dance Alloy’s Summer Intensive, and several ACDFA festivals. Serene is looking forward to graduating this June from the Laban Institute of Movement Studies as a Certified Movement Analyst. In the past few years, she began teaching dance classes to meet the needs of people with Parkinson’s disease, “Caregiver” dance classes for the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging, and creative movement classes for children with special needs. For the past 8 years, Serene has been a guest choreographer for both faculty and students in the Anne Arundel County public schools. Her performance background includes Kinetics Dance Theatre, Cross Currents Dance Company, and The Collective. She also enjoys choreographing as a guest artist with various companies in the Washington DC and the Baltimore area. When not dancing, she enjoys spending time at the beach with her husband, Rob, daughter Emmi, and son, Ethan.
