Beiträge zur bayerischen Entomofaunistik 16:19–38, Bamberg (2016), ISSN 1430-015X Schmetterlinge und Käfer im ehemaligen Basalt-Steinbruch Zinst bei Kulmain (Insecta: Lepidoptera & Coleoptera) von Gerald Fuchs & Herbert Fuchs Abstract: In the years 2014 and 2015 the excursions of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bayerischer Entomologen e.V. took place in the former basalt stone quarry of Zinst at Kulmain. The records of Lepidoptera and Coleoptera are presented. Remarks on Tinagma ocnerostomella (Stainton, 1850), Yponomeuta rorrella (Hübner, 1796) and Lixus myagri Olivier, 1807 are given. Zusammenfassung: Die Gemeinschaftsexkursionen der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bayerischer Entomologen e.V.in den Jahren 2014 und 2015 fanden im ehemaligen Basalt-Steinbruch bei Zinst statt. Eine Übersicht zu den erfassten Schmetterlings- und Käferar- ten wird im vorliegenden Beitrag wiedergegeben. Insgesamt wurden bei den Schmetterlingen 239 Arten und bei den Käfern 185 Arten an den Exkursionstagen registriert. Bemerkenswert sind die Nachweise von Tinagma ocnerostomella (Stainton, 1850), Yponomeuta rorrella (Hübner, 1796) und Lixus myagri Olivier, 1807. Einleitung Auf einem der Treffen der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bayerischer Entomologen e.V.wurde der Beschluss gefasst, ab 2014 jährlich mindestens eine gemeinschaftliche Exkursion in einen ausgewählten Lebensraum zur Er- fassung der verschiedenen Insektengruppen durchzuführen. Diese führte uns am 31. Mai 2014 in den ehe- maligen Basalt-Steinbruch Zinst bei Kulmain, Lkr. Tirschenreuth (Naturraum 394 Hohes Fichtelgebirge). Das eingezäunte Gelände wurde 2012 vom Landesbund für Vogelschutz gekauft und bislang entomolo- gisch nur wenig untersucht. Die tagsüber vorherrschenden kühlen und in der Nacht sehr kalten Witterungsbedingungen waren nur bedingt geeignet, um viele Arten nachweisen zu können. Deshalb wurde noch vor Ort beschlossen einen weiteren Termin in 2015 durchzuführen, der am 13. Juni stattfand. Leider war uns auch an diesem Tag der Wettergott nicht wohlgesonnen, jedoch konnten beim Lichtfang auf Schmetterlinge deutlich bessere Erfol- ge erzielt werden. Schwerpunkt der entomologischen Erfassung waren die Lepidoptera und Coleoptera, daneben wurden außerdem Saltatoria, Odonata, Diptera und Hymenoptera erfasst. Auch Reptilien, Amphibien und die Avi- fauna wurden eifrig notiert. Die Ergebnisse aus diesen Gruppen sollen in anderen Veröffentlichungen ihre Berücksichtigung finden. Lebensraum Der Basalt-Steinbruch Zinst (Abb. 1) im Landkreis Tirschenreuth liegt am Westrand des Fichtelgebirges und ist 2005, nach hundertjähriger Ausbeutung, stillgelegt worden (www.lbv.de). 2012 konnte der Landes- bund für Vogelschutz das etwa 45 ha große Areal mit Hilfe des bayerischen Naturschutzfonds und der Unterstützung zahlreicher Spender kaufen. Das Gelände besteht aus drei Abbaustufen, auf denen in Größe und Körnung die verschiedensten Halden zu finden sind. Es existieren feinsandige, einkörnige Schuttkegel auf denen Echium vulgare wächst, neben großen Blockschutthalden mit beginnenden Gehölzaufwuchs, bis zu deutlich bewachsenen und auch nähr- stoffreicheren Bereichen. Der am tiefsten gelegene Abbaubereich ist permanent mit Wasser gefüllt, einige kleinere, mit verschie- denen Wasserpflanzen bewachsene ephemere Wasserstellen, dienen einer großen Kreuzkrötenpopulation als Laichgewässer. Beiträge zur bayerischen Entomofaunistik 16 (2016) 19 Oberhalb des großen Weihers ist der gesamte Hang relativ dicht mit den verschiedensten Gehölzen be- wachsen. Im Unterstand wachsen meist Stauden und Gräser die eher auf nährstoffreiche Verhältnisse hin- weisen. Auf ca. 25 ha wird eine Beweidung mit Waldschafen und Thüringerwald-Ziegen, die im Besitz ei- nes Öko-Landwirtes sind, durchgeführt. Lepidoptera Ergebnisse An den beiden Erfassungstagen einschließlich zweier Exkursionen in 2009 (Bittermann, unveröff.) konn- ten immerhin 244 Schmetterlingsarten nachgewiesen werden. Von den in der Untersuchung von Knipfer (2012) genannten 119 Arten, wurden von uns 59 Arten nicht gefunden, somit ergibt sich eine Gesamtarten- zahl von 303 Schmetterlingsarten. Die große Masse der Arten ist weit verbreitet und nicht selten; nur wenige Arten sind in der Roten Liste gefährdeter Tiere Bayerns gelistet, so Cryphia domestica (Knipfer, 2012), Aporia crataegi, Exaeretia alli- sella, Lycaena hippothoe und Euclidia mi (Rote Liste 3), sowie Hyles gallii und Euphyia frustata (Knipfer, 2012) (Rote Liste 2). Zwei Arten sollen an dieser Stelle aber explizit erwähnt werden: Tinagma ocnerostomella (Stainton, 1850) In Bayern nur wenig nachgewiesene, an Echium vulgare lebende Art (Gotthardt, 1952; Pröse, 2006; Se- gerer et al., 2014; Haslberger et al., 2016). Obwohl die Nahrungspflanze im Untersuchungsgebiet häufig zu finden ist, konnten Imagines nur dort von blühenden Pflanzen gekeschert werden, wo diese auf völlig sterilen Basaltsandhaufen wuchsen. Sobald andere Pflanzen im Umgriff auf sonst mehr oder weniger lückigen Boden wuchsen, war die Suche erfolg- los. Ob diese Beobachtung nur für den Basaltsteinbruch gilt oder auch für andere Fundorte zutrifft, kann leider nicht beurteilt werden. 31.v.2014 mehrere Ex. zusammen mit Tinagma perdicella von blühenden Echium vulgare gekeschert, leg. et det. Yponomeuta rorrella (Hübner, 1796) Die in Südbayern weit verbreitete Art, wird nördlich der Donau nur wenig gefunden (Schmid, 1887; Pröse, 1979; Segerer et al., 2004). Am 31. Mai 2014 konnte an der Ostseite einer in einem Gehölzkomplex eingebundenen Salix caprea ein Raupennest in etwa zwei Meter Höhe gefunden werden. Passoa Advisor Graduate Program in Entomology ABSTRACT The phylogenetics, systematics, taxonomy, and biology of Gelechioidea (Insecta: Lepidoptera) are investigated. This superfamily is probably the second largest in all of Lepidoptera, and it remains one of the least well known. Taxonomy of Gelechioidea has been unstable historically, and definitions vary at the family and subfamily levels. In Chapters Two and Three, I review the taxonomy of Gelechioidea and characters that have been important, with attention to what characters or terms were used by different authors. I revise the coding of characters that are already in the literature, and provide new data as well. Chapter Four provides the first phylogenetic analysis of Gelechioidea to include molecular data. I combine novel DNA sequence data from Cytochrome oxidase I and II with morphological matrices for exemplar species. The results challenge current concepts of Gelechioidea, suggesting that traditional morphological characters that have united taxa may not be homologous structures and are in need of further investigation. Resolution of this problem will require more detailed analysis and more thorough characterization of certain lineages. To begin this task, I conduct in Chapter Five an in- depth study of morphological evolution, host-plant selection, and geographical distribution of a medium-sized genus Depressaria Haworth (Depressariinae), larvae of ii which generally feed on plants in the families Asteraceae and Apiaceae.

HEPPNER2 Department of Entomology and Nematology, IFAS, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida 32611 Current studies of the North American Glyphipterigidae have revealed major fundamental morphological and behavioral characters which dem­ onstrate that the inclusion of thc choreutid and glyphipterigid groups within a single family is untenable. The discordant characters involved have been shown in the past by other workers to be so fundamentally and evolutionarily conservative in Lepidoptera phylogeny that it is not even possible to consider the two groups to have evolved within the same superfamily, Glyphipterigid moths have long been considered of unusual interest because of apparent affinities to the Yponomeutidae and the Sesiidae, as well as to the Tortricidae. Most early workers considered them as dis­ tinct groups: the choreutids were placed with the tortricids and the glyphipterigids sensu stricto were placed among the tineoid moths. This segregation was rarely altered until Meyrick (1914) combined them into one family. Meyrick's classification was based largely on general facies-the two groups share a number of superficial characters-and not fundamental relationships. He also relied strongly on wing venation and did not use genitalia, internal morphology or larval characters. He formed a conglomeration of what now are no less than nine distinct families in several superfamilies, although he realized the true affinities of many of the included genera in later years. Current revisionary studies on the choreutids and glyphipterigids, using modern systematic tech­ niques, are revealing the true affinities of these moths.

Passos de Carvalho (†) Abstrac 143 species of Lepidoptera collected by the authors and others in various localities in Portugal are listed as additions to the Portuguese fauna. 26 of the species are new records for the Iberian Peninsula. The paper summarizes the results of our study of selected Microlepi- doptera families (Meessiidae, Tineidae, Douglasiidae, Epermeniidae, Glyphi- pterigidae: Acrolepiinae) collected in the Russian Altai. Tinea altaica sp. nov. is described from the vicinity of Tashanta on the Russian-Mongolian border and from Mongolia. The new species distantly resembles Tinea semifulvella Haworth, 1828 and T. semifulvelloides Petersen, 1973. The up to now unknown females of Klimeschia biarmatella Budashkin, 2003 and Monopis luteocostalis Gaedike, 2006 are described.     Identification of Micro-Moth Families

    Identification of micro-moth families Introduction This guide is intended for use by Garden Moth Scheme (GMS) recorders and other British and Irish moth enthusiasts. It is aimed at those who already have some understanding of moth taxonomy and morphology but struggle to easily home-in on which moth family a micro- moth belongs to. For further information about how to start out moth- trapping see www.gardenmoths.org.uk. There are currently over 1600 British and Irish micro-moth species, compared to around 800 species of macro-moth and 60 species of butterfly, so species identification is particularly challenging. Narrowing down identification to species requires additional information from training courses, websites and field guides. This guide shows photographs of 45 micro-moth families at rest, together with identification tips, similar species, and the number of species in that family. Taxonomists disagree on the order and arrangement of families, but this guide follows the numbering system of Bradley and Fletcher (B&F) wherever possible. The guide is intended to be used with the excellent Field Guide to the Micromoths of Great Britain and Ireland by Sterling, Parsons and Lewington, British Wildlife Publishing (2012, SPL), which covers 1000+ micro-moth species. However, for the uninitiated, facing a light trap full of micro-moths starting from scratch with SPL can be both daunting and time-consuming. Family names are different and are shown in a different order in SPL and B&F, so in order to reduce confusion, after the B&F numbers are quoted for each family the page numbers for the plates in SPL are also given.
