The Rest Stop in Bright was talked about as a “very special place in the hearts of all the travellers”. Accommodation for the next four nights was at the Yackandanda Mo- tel. On day three, was spent -touring around, visiting Chiltern and over the Mighty Murray to Corowa for some sightseeing and shopping and also where Derek spotted a for- mer Bombala resident. “Who says anywhere is safe from Bendoc travellers”. Continuing the tradition of having at least one Chinese meal, set on previous trips, the group enjoyed a lovely Chinese meal at a pub in Rutherglen. A number of the group attended the 10th Anniversary of “Opera in the Alps” while others had a relaxing evening. Even at the Opera, the Bendoc Neighbourhood House bus drew comments, and a number of people actually knew where Bendoc was!!. Day four, was spent visiting wineries, for wine and cheese tasting and purchasing. On day five, the group visited Glen Rowan where a few toured through the museum which features the re-enactment of the capture of Ned Kelly. Others enjoyed visiting local shops, some of which had nick nacks from bygone eras. The return journey took 8-10 hours with a brief stops in Corryong and Jindabyne, finally returning the travellers home late afternoon. Everyone on the tour thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and another trip may be planned for later in the year. Thanks to Derek for planning the trip, sharing the driving and his knowledge of the area was greatly appreciated by all. Special thanks to Charlie Burton as the driver on both mountain routes. “The girls actually kept their eyes open and enjoyed the scenery”.
