Connecticut

The elections in the state of have all been finalized. Leadership roles in both the Connecticut House and Senate have been secured and committee chairs have been appointed. Lamont has also issued several COVID-related Executive Orders, including increased noncompliance penalties and benefits extensions, as well as a vaccination distribution framework. Massachusetts

Details for a $46.2 billion FY21 budget agreed upon on December 3 by a conference committee comprised of six legislators, three from both branches of the and of both parties. The FY21 budget was brought before the legislature on December 4 for a final vote to approve before going to Governor Baker's desk for review. Read the update >>

New

2021 will be a budget year in New Hampshire. Much of what lies ahead will be budget negotiations between Governor Sununu, the House, and the Senate for the next biennium starting July 1, 2021. Much of the debate will depend on the revenues coming in to balance the current budget that ends June 30, 2021. Read update >>

Rhode Island

The House Oversight Committee met on December 3 to hear from the RI Department of Administration and Office of Management and Budget with an update of expenditures on the $1.25B in Cares Act funds the state received. All funds must be spent prior to December 31, 2020 or be returned to the federal government, unless Congress takes further action. House leaders are also working to pass a smaller or “skinny budget,” which was delayed several months due to COVID. Read the Update >>
