A Gathering of the Clans A Phoenix Rises A grand reunion of the School of Ocean Sciences Alumni (SOSA) on June 27th / 28th 2015 to celebrate the completion of Marine Centre Wales An Artist’s Impression of the New Building Many of you will be aware that the old Westbury Mount house and associated “sixties” buildings, which formed the original Marine Science Laboratories, have been recycled and have disappeared. As a result of very generous EU funding, a 21st century Phoenix, ‘Marine Centre Wales.’ is rising from the ashes. To celebrate this fabulous new addition to the School’s building portfolio, we are holding a grand reunion of Alumni on the weekend of the 27th /28th June 2015. Places are limited, so you are advised to book as early as possible. The primary event is a celebratory evening at Reichel Hall in Bangor to include drinks/nibbles, three course meal with wine and a ceilidh. Several other events have also been organised for the Saturday afternoon -- including a rib-ride through the “Swellies” in the Menai Strait followed by an afternoon tea and cakes get together at Dylan’s restaurant, overlooking the Menai Strait. On Sunday morning, we are planning tours of the Prince Madog (availability permitting) and of the new Marine Centre Wales -- including entertaining talks by visiting alumni and staff.
