The Sunshine Kids Foundation adds quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities, so they may once again do what Kids are meant to do... have fun and celebrate life!

We look forward to the day when the Sunshine Kids Foundation will no longer need to exist. Until that time, the entire Sunshine Kids family is dedicated to providing the most exciting activities, trips and events for as many young cancer patients as possible.

2 Sunshine Kids 2018 Annual Report A Message from our Board Chairman Hello Friends, On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to say thank you to all of our supporters, volunteers, staff and friends for their efforts in support of the Sunshine Kids Foundation. Your generosity allows us to host thousands of kids each year at local, regional and national events and allows them to forget about their cancer for a while and enjoy some fun and memorable activities.
Once again, our year was highlighted by our fabulous national trips in New Orleans, Texas Hill Country, Washington, D.C., New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Orlando. The Kids also attended our annual Winter Games at a new location in Beaver Creek, Colorado. We look forward to these exciting events in 2019 as well as trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas and Atlanta.
We’d like to thank the numerous college and professional sports teams that donate so much of their time and resources Bret with Sunshine Kids Michelle Collins and Kayla Deroche through on field “meet and greets”, VIP access and game tickets for the Kids and their families. Also, a special thank you to all of our corporate donors who dedicate so much of their efforts to fundraising and creating special opportunities throughout the year. And of course, we don’t exist without the many individual, organization and foundation supporters who make it possible for us to make a positive impact on young cancer patients all over the country.

CRAIG BIGGIO BASEBALL HALL OF FAMER
Throughout his Houston Astros career, Hall of Famer Craig Biggio has supported the Sunshine Kids Foundation. Since 2003, he has proudly served as the National Spokesperson helping to bring joy, laughter and smiles to countless Kids and their families. Together with his wife Patty, they have helped raise millions of dollars through a host of fundraising events making it possible to create more opportunities for children across the country.

J.K. SIMMONS AWARD-WINNING ACTOR
J.K. Simmons has appeared in a diverse range of projects from motion pictures and television to the stage. He won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of merciless jazz instructor Fletcher in “Whiplash,” as well as numerous other awards. He proudly wears his Sunshine Kid Pin at many of his awards ceremonies in support of Kids with cancer everywhere.
J.K. and his family have been long-time friends and supporters of the Sunshine Kids Foundation. Not only have he and his wife Michelle hosted the Kids in their home, but he has attended every activity and fundraiser his schedule has allowed.

The Sunshine Kids Foundation is profoundly grateful to the Kids and their families who participate in our activities and events. These positive and exciting group activities for Kids fighting cancer are made possible by a focused and caring board of directors, a passionate and dedicated staff, a nationwide group of extraordinary volunteers, sponsors and medical representatives.
The following letter represents a group on the front lines without whose support the Sunshine Kids Foundation would not be able to do what it does. I speak, of course, of the families whose courage and love make them extraordinary examples of J.M. Barrie’s observation… “Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.”

Dear Sunshine Kids, G.W. and Sunshine Kid Marco Villegas, Jr. We have struggled to find the words to adequately express our appreciation for the amazing trip you provided our son! When our social worker, Juliet, called and asked if we would be interested in an all-expense paid trip for Elliott to Chicago, we knew we couldn’t pass up such a wonderful opportunity for him! We felt even better after we spoke to Lisa Parlante, the nurse that would act as his chaperone for the trip. What a blessing to have a medically knowledgeable, bright, young woman to watch over our child from the beginning of their trip in Charlotte until their return.
This ended up being the trip of a lifetime for Elliott! He experienced so many wonderful “firsts”; it was his first time on an airplane, his first time to travel without either parent, his first time to Chicago, his first time to be able to eat and drink whatever he wanted (until Lisa cut him off from the Cokes), his first time Sunshine Kid Elliott Kappers to be interviewed by a reporter, his first time on the evening news, his first time to visit a TV set and see the Blue Man Group and his first time to hang out with other kids who understand what it’s like to battle cancer! He matured and grew in confidence on this trip. He made wonderful friends and continued to heal inside and out. th birthday – so cool it coincided with the trip. Of You gave Elliott the best 12 course, we will never be able to top this birthday! After a long summer of chemotherapy, this carefree, week-long adventure in Chicago was a gift beyond measure!
