Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} All-New All-Different Volume 1 The Magnificent Seven by ComicAlly. I feel like Marvel should have put the “All-New, All-Different” label should be in quotation marks followed by a winking emoji because this Avengers book is only superficially new and different. It’s practically the classic line-up with some new faces in place of the originals. The team is Sam Wilson Cap, female , , , Ms Marvel, Spidey, and . The stories are barely worth mentioning because they’re as generic as any Avengers comics - I don’t know when it happened but apparently the Avengers disbanded and Tony Stark lost all his money, then a Chitauri heavy invades, a mysterious powerful villain fucks with the team, blah blah blah. As forgettable as the storylines are, the strength of this book is the way Mark Waid writes the characters. I liked how we got to see the team assemble rather than just have them appear together fully-formed like in ’s godawful New Avengers. Cap and Tony happen to meet and from then on the team comes together in a natural way. Waid shows up ’s limitations as a writer by actually making Sam Wilson Cap likeable for the first time and he writes Tony perfectly - charmingly but also intelligently. The way Tony thinks about Thor’s language to suss out that her secret identity might not be immortal was very clever. There’s a subtle possible romance angle set up between Nova and Ms Marvel and a not-so-subtle love story set up with Thor and Cap, both of which are cute. I was really surprised to find Waid writes a very decent Kamala and Thor, as good as anything G. Willow Wilson and write. I also liked seeing a friendship blossom between Kamala and Miles who develop their own version of the Fastball Special, and Jarvis returning to work at the new Avengers HQ. These guys are a convincing team who actually seem as if they like each other too. and Mahmud Asrar’s art is fine but it’s the usual slick style that’s not gonna excite anyone familiar with superhero comics and the stories are really just there to develop the characters. The Magnificent Seven isn’t the most amazing superhero book you’ll read but it’s not bad for an Avengers comic (which are usually terrible) and Waid’s deep understanding of the characters and consummate skills as a comics writer brings the team to life - worth checking out if you’re a Waid fan. The young heroes explain to them that they were forced to leave the Radioactive Man alone as there was an NYPD Officer that would have died if not for their rescue. Surrounded by devastated buildings in Jersey City, Ms. Marvel calls Nova a jerk. Twelve hours earlier, Captain America saves a truck from falling off Queensboro Bridge, then encounters Tony Stark by chance. Tony gives Sam a ride in his flying car and they discuss how Tony lost most of his money and that there currently is no team of superheroes calling themselves Avengers. Meanwhile, in the former Avengers Tower the Chitauri, Warbringer, appears in front of the building's new owner, threatening him. The owner shows himself impressed with Warbringer's teleportation technique, not frightened at all, apparently immune to his attacks and able to stop him from teleporting away. He calls himself an ally against Nova, and recalls how Warbringer was pushed into the Sun by the young hero. The new owner suggests that his human appearance is not his true form and offers the alien his help in annihilating the human race as he shows him Chitaurian artifacts. Yet before he can explain the function of the artifacts he notices Spider-Man eavesdropping. Miles gets blown out of the tower through a wall and encounters Tony mid-, warning him about the big angry alien inside. Tony transforms his flying car to a large Iron Man Armor and storms in the tower to attack Warbringer, as the new owner of the building fades away. Captain America and Spider-Man soon follow, but all three of them are defeated by the solar flare attack of Warbringer. Appearing in 4th story. The story begins with Spider-Man waking up Captain America and then webbing his wounds. The Vision arrives and proceeds to help Iron Man to remove his armour. Mr. Gryphon appears and demands payment, which no one could afford. Spider-Man explains that he saw someone talking to Warbringer, yet he couldn't remember who, and then Tony calls in his armour to look for the person. An aeroplane is preparing to land while Nova flies past wondering how Warbringer survived being thrown into the Sun. He then gets an alert that there is an attack on Liberty Science Center and he worries since it is in Jersey City. Warbringer explains how easy they made it for him to find one of the artifacts, then Ms. Marvel proceeds to try to stop him. Nova come in to the building and flies Warbringer trough a window, then Warbringer gets up and shoots Nova with a beam. Ms. Marvel grabs a fire hydrant and sprays the fire with water. Warbringer remarks on how Ms. Marvel "cares so very much for property" and then proceeds to shoot at a building. Nova comes and proceeds to "put out the fire" by destroying the building. Ms. Marvel calls Nova a "jerk" since the building was a "livelihood." Nova claims that the "alien doesn't care" and then the others appear and discuss what the Warbringer wants while flying towards the subway. Warbringer explains how the "carbon sludge" humans are made of is "of such low quality" that he requires "repeated doses" to "hold his body together." He then tries to pull two civilians towards him, but Spider-Man intervenes and Ms. Marvel stops the civilians from falling. Nova, Iron Man, and Vision then blast Warbringer through a wall, and he gloats on how he wants immortality. He then says that "Earthlings are nothing, a dismissable infestation on a mineable planet with resources valuable to the Chitaurian ," then he proceeds to punch a hole in the wall and grab a piece of the artifact. Thor appears and proceeds to throw at Warbringer, but Gryphon teleports it behind Warbringer, making it hit the wall and cause it to flood, letting the Chitaurian escape. Appearing in 5th story. Nova wakes up from a state of unconsciousness as Thor saves him from drowning. He is still worried the other heroes might think that Warbringer has come to Earth solely because of him. When Captain America calls Sam by his name, Ms. Marvel realizes that he previously lied to her. After a brief discussion on whether the young heroes should stay with the adults or leave, the whole group goes on to face Warbringer together. Meanwhile the alien has retrieved the final artifact in company of Mr. Gryphon on a graveyard in Long Island Sound. As he holds all three artifacts in his hands a giant window appears in the sky, through which an army of Chitaurians can be seen. To let them through, the artifacts need to be assembled first, but before Warbringer can do that, he is attacked by the group of heroes. Iron Man realizes that their enemy is too strong for them to defeat and suggests to open the portal, push the alien to and close it again. Even though Mr. Glyphon makes the dead rise from their graves to attack the heroes on the ground, Nova successfully pushes Warbringer to the other side of the portal which is opened and closed by Spider-Man within a split second, which leaves the artifacts destroyed. Iron Man states that he still has no idea what brought Warbringer to Earth and Thor points out that he yelled Novas name when he was defeated. Vision argues that he had probably met another Nova Corps member before. Iron Man then admires the work they have done as a team and asks who would want to join him as an Avenger, an offer everyone accepts. Later on Vision informs Nova that the young hero is in his debt for keeping secret that his presence might havebrought the Chitaurian to Earth. Warbringer in the meantime learns that the portal sent him into the future and he is killed by other Chitaurians after being mocked by them.
