One of the aspects which makes and more pressure either side of it. so exciting is all the variables This is why in certain wind directions involved. No race is ever the same there is often more wind in Portland as another and this is what makes Harbour than in Weymouth Bay. sailing a sport for life. One of the biggest variables is the weather and Water runs downhill and you can I often think that if I could control that, think of the pressure differences then I would be a very rich man! being much the same as this with highs and lows. If the height of the rain cloud is wind you are experiencing, perhaps it greater than the height from the land/ is a gradient wind which is pressure sea to the bottom of the cloud then driven. The easiest way to think of it will drop wind and rain, and as a this is wind is like water, it behaves sailor we can take advantage of this! like a fluid and therefore always chooses the easiest route. In the main more wind is only a good thing and the extra wind coming out If you look at rivers they very rarely of the cloud gives a clear advantage go in a straight line (unless man to the sailor who arrives there first ● Wind Bend On made). This happens with wind. A good example of this is Portland Harbour Of course we tend to have big white Use wind bends to your so rather than going over high clouds as well on a hot summer day, ground like the Island of Portland, where there is a lot of mixing of the advantage when racing the wind will bend around it. Lets consider the help establish more confidence in yourself sailor who wins the majority of races as a competitor. Start with the next event, he competes in or the person who maybe you want to finish in the top half of seems to find success in everything they the fleet, maybe just two places better than attempt. These people go to the next you did the previous year, perhaps you Meka Taulbee event with an established sense of self- and Joe Sailor are always neck & neck confidence. They have shown to others and now it’s time to show him your stuff and themselves what they are capable or maybe you just want to make it across of. They have come to expect the same the finish line. Whatever your desire, start results at each event and others come to by breaking it down into small chunks and expect the same as well. Whether they are working one at a time. Before you know it consciously aware of it or not they have you will be making great advances and in created a mental edge over the rest of the turn you will feel good about yourself and competitors. On the other hand many of much more confident. Others will start to the competitors have let themselves be notice this new confidence and now is taken over by this mental edge. Whether when you are gaining your mental edge. they are consciously aware of it or not they Many factors can affect your state of mind automatically expect that they will finish and in turn hinder your performance. Consider how the other competitors view The next time you will be so concerned you in relationship to themselves. Do they with not wanting to feel that way again assume you will always finish in front you won’t focus on the task at hand. You of them or that you are not a threat? It may have an injury that you think will hold seems the longer we let ourselves and you back. If you just worry about the “what others believe something the more true ifs” that “could” hold you back then here it becomes. Why not go into each event again you are not putting your full focus with some confidence and give yourself on the event. You are so worried about an even greater chance of achieving the the outcome that you are not living in the results you want! This isn’t to say that moment. Every event will have its ups and you should start acting over confident downs and you need to recognize those and cocky. Unlike physical fitness, mental and learn what you can from them. For fitness can’t be seen on the outside, but example, if you hit a mark and are forced comes from within. to do a 360 you may spend the rest of the Mental fitness doesn’t happen overnight, race mad at yourself and thinking about but rather takes time to develop.
