When Professor Andrew Verstein took contract law classes at Yale Law School, he didn’t expect to discover his passion for the subject he now teaches, and characterizes, as “vitally exciting.”

WAKE FOREST LAW DEVELOPMENT WELCOMES ASSISTANT DIRECTOR JOY SCHEIDT AND STEVEN SPENCER (BA '94)

Wake Forest Law Development welcomed two new staff members in the fall of 2013.

Assistant Director Joy Scheidt grew up in Asheville. She graduated from Salem College in 2003 with a degree in American Studies and Economics, then began working in fundraising at her alma mater. Her new role at Wake Forest Law consists of raising gifts for the law school’s Annual Fund at leadership levels (under $10,000) and working with the Rose Council, formerly known as the Young Alumni Board.

Among Scheidt’s goals for her new role is to further engage Wake Forest Law alumni and encourage them to donate to the institution that is at the least partially responsible for who and where they are today. Scheidt feels the law school’s $1 million goal for the Annual

Fund is within reach and sees that the support will need to come from a larger percentage of alumni to achieve this goal.

She is aiming for 30 percent giving this year from alumni. Every dollar above $300,000 raised for the Annual Eund goes directly toward scholarships. Last year, the largest amount of money raised in the history of the law school for unrestricted giving came from only (BA ’94) has Old Gold and Black home of Wake Forest Law. 16 percent of the alumni. running through his veins.
