Happy Black History Month!

- Today we are honoring Cicely Tyson. Cicely Tyson was an actress and fashion model born in , NY in 1924. Cicely’s amazing career spanned more than 70 years, and she was the recipient of numerous awards including three Emmy’s, an Academy award, a TONY award, and more. She was also inducted into the Black Film Maker’s Hall of Fame and was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President in 2016. Cicely was the first African American to star in a television show and the first Black woman to ever receive an Honorary Oscar. Some of her incredible work include her role as Rebecca Morgan in Sounder (1972), Jane Pittman in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman (1974) and as Coretta Scott in King (1979). Cicely Tyson passed away last week, on January 28th at 96 years old. She will always be remembered as a trailblazer for Black women, on and off the screen.
