2016 NFL DRAFT TO KICK OFF IN PRIMETIME AT 8:00 PM ET ON THURSDAY NIGHT, APRIL 28
25 TOP PROSPECTS & 12 NCAA HEAD COACHES TO ATTEND NFL DRAFT
Twenty-five top prospects, who are expected to be selected on Thursday or Friday night (April 28-29), are confirmed to attend the 2016 NFL Draft at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University in Chicago, the NFL announced today.
That includes a record-tying five players from Ohio State: CB Eli Apple, DE Joey Bosa, T Taylor Decker, RB Ezekiel Elliott and LB Darron Lee. Ohio State’s five players equal the record set by Alabama in 2012.
Twelve NCAA head coaches will join their players in the green room as they await their selections.
The draft begins with the first round on Thursday night, April 28. It continues on Friday, April 29, with Rounds 2-3 and will conclude on Saturday, April 30 with Rounds 4-7.
The NFL Draft, which had been held in New York from 1965-2014, returned to Chicago last year for the first time since 1964. Chicago served as the location for the NFL Draft in 1938, 1942-44, 1951, 1962-64 and 2015.

2016 NFL DRAFT FACTS & FIGURES
WHAT: 81st Annual National Football League Player Selection Meeting.
WHERE: Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois.
WHEN: 7:00 PM CT/8:00 PM ET, Thursday, April 28 (Round 1). 6:00 PM CT/7:00 PM ET, Friday, April 29 (Rounds 2-3). 11:00 AM CT/Noon ET, Saturday, April 30 (Rounds 4-7).
The first round will conclude on Thursday by approximately 10:15 PM CT. In 2015, the first round consumed three hours and nine minutes. The second and third rounds will conclude on Friday by approximately 10:00 PM CT. The second and third rounds took four hours and 10 minutes in 2015. The draft will conclude by approximately 5:30 PM CT on Saturday with the final four rounds. Rounds 4 through 7 took six hours and 26 minutes in 2015.
DRAFTING: Representatives of the 32 NFL clubs by telephone communication with their general managers, coaches and scouts.
ROUNDS: Seven Rounds – Round 1 on Thursday, April 28; Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday, April 29; and Rounds 4 through 7 on Saturday, April 30.
There will be 253 selections, including 33 compensatory choices that have been awarded to 13 teams that suffered a net loss of certain quality unrestricted free agents last year.
The following 33 compensatory choices will supplement the 220 regular choices in the seven rounds –

Compensatory picks may not be traded this year. A rule change approved by clubs in 2015 will permit compensatory draft picks to be traded beginning in 2017.
TIME LIMITS: Round 1: 10 minutes per selection. Round 2: Seven minutes per selection. Rounds 3 through 6: Five minutes per selection. Round 7 and All Compensatory Picks: Four minutes per selection.
