Because traditional metal not only upholds values like the physical product, but also pays respect and admiration to the history of the music. The times that hard rock of the seventies and speed metal are mutually exclusive have been over for several years. The band logos belonging to the tracklist of this double CD could adorn every metalheads dress! Already part 1 of „Damn, This Stuff Is Heavy“, released in spring 2019, underlined this phenomenon. In the middle of this scene is already since the eighties Neudi. He is a drummer, journalist, presenter, studio technician, A&R, music salesman in a store and, of course, fan and crazy collector. So Neudi has a 360° view of everything metal. „There have always been festivals where the mix was very colorful, think of the Metal Hammer event at the Loreley in 1985, but the new spectrum really struck me at the Sweden Rock Festival at the end of the 2000s. Electric Light Orchestra on stage 1 and a thrash band on stage 2, and the fans found it hard to choose,“ says Neudi, whose musical taste starts in the late sixties and ends with thrash metal. Another challenge is to always make drums absolutely real. So they have to be recorded with microphones and should also not be edited on a PC under any circumstances afterwards. „I‘ve been fighting against plastic sounds for years, even if I don‘t just make friends in the process“. This time there is no burning record player on the cover, but a discarded tape machine. The old advertising slogan „hot music“, or rather „hot metal“, was again implemented without Photoshop tricks topping off the musical content and Volume One! BUDGIE page 4 By Chef Jeff THE BAND: Burke Shelley (Bass & Lead Vocals) Steve Williams (Drums) Craig Goldy (Guitars) THE HISTORY: Formed in 1968 by Burke Shelley, Budgie was at the forefront of the hard rock movement in the early 1970’s and the power trio from Cardiff, Wales signed a five-album deal with MCA Records. Their first album featuring the lineup of Burke Shelley, Tony Bourge (Guitars) and Ray Phillips (Drums) was released in 1971 and the band began touring relentlessly both in the United States and Europe. The album releases and worldwide tours continued at a very high pace throughout the 70’s and early 80’s as Budgie released ten studio albums and continued touring in support of each album.

People’s desire and need to visit these events only seems to increase. Cultural tourism and music tourism has developed into a significant and important part of the experience industry and it employs more and more people within the tourism industry. The purpose of this paper is to investigate which effects this can have on the local community. Focus is held on the touristic and economic impact on the nearby municipality and region. The paper is based on a case study on Sweden Rock Festival, which is one of Swedens largest music festivals with a heavy-metal direction. Sweden Rock Festival is located in the south of Sweden in a small municipality called Sölvesborg. Sölvesborg has about 17 000 inhabitants and each year some 33 200 festival visitors decend on the area to attend the festival. To investigate the touristic and economic impact that Sweden Rock Festival has on Sölvesborg, interviews have been conducted. These interviews have been done by either telephone or by e-mail with people from the municipality, the Sweden Rock Festival organization and people with connections to the local business life. Also, two experienced festival attenders have been interviewed to investigate the visitors use of the area’s supply of tourism attractions besides Sweden Rock Festival.

We also have recently reviewed your new project, under the name Nordic Union, which is a really cool album. What is the reception so far, from the media, the fans? Are you satisfied with it? I would say, the reception has been fantastic, its phenomenal to be honest. The reviews are great, it's even getting airplay on the radio, it's getting on the charts, even the mainstream medias in Sweden are picking it up and writing about it. I never ever experienced that they write about something like this. Yes, I just saw that you posted that you are on nu. 4 or nu. 5 on the Swedish hard rock charts today, which is really good. You never had any prior success on the charts with your other bands or projects? Yes, with Eclipse and with W.E.T. we actually went to nu.1, a couple of years ago. If it wasn't, well I mean, that almost the same day Dream Theater released their album, just one week earlier Megadeth and Avantasia the same day, there are so many good bands and big names. If we would have released it a month later, maybe the competition would not have been so big, maybe we could have landed on nu. 1 Yes, so I wanted to ask you, you have collaborated for Nordic Union with a very big singer, Ronnie Atkins.

    Late 1960's - Early 1970's The birth of heavy metal. Groups like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple were the first heavy metal bands. Late 1970's The rise of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest become very popular. 1978 Van Halen released their debut album. This began the Los Angeles/Sunset Strip scene, and many bands would come out of this era, including Motley Crue and Quiet Riot. The so called "hair bands" like Poison, Warrant and Ratt came from that scene as well. The Who's Keith Moon died. Bands formed this year: Dokken, Ratt, Whitesnake A sample of heavy metal albums released in 1978: Black Sabbath - Never Say Die Judas Priest - Stained Class UFO - Obsession 1979 The German band Accept releases their self-titled debut album. They are considered to be the first European power metal band. Ozzy Osbourne was fired from Black Sabbath and replaced by Ronnie James Dio. Bands formed this year: Europe, Hanoi Rocks, Trouble and Venom.
