UTV Spotboy and Anurag Kashyap Reunite for a Madcap Comedy Titled UTV signs Emraan Hashmi for Ghanchakkar Director Rajkumar Gupta’s next after No One Killed Jessica Mumbai, December 12, 2011: UTV Motion Pictures has signed actor Emraan Hashmi for Ghanchakkar to be directed by Rajkumar Gupta. This is Emraan Hashmi’s first film with UTV Motion Pictures and Rajkumar Gupta’s third after Aamir and No one killed Jessica. After Aamir, Dev.D and Udaan the talented music composer Amit Trivedi will compose the music for the film. The film is written by Pervez Shaikh and Raj Kumar Gupta. Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures says, “After two back to back hits together with Aamir and No One Killed Jessica, we are thrilled to announce our next film with Rajkumar Gupta, Ghanchakkar. What makes this even more exciting is that we will be working with Emraan Hashmi for the first time, in the lead role in Ghanchakkar. Emraan is one of the most bankable stars in recent times and just the perfect lead casting for this film. Rajkumar and Pervez Sheikh have written a cracker of a script and with Emraan playing the sort of role he has never essayed before, audiences are in for a quirky, zany, crazy, suspenseful ride." Television is one of them, the other being film. Both have a mesmerising hold over Indian audiences―and even over investors and advertisers.1 This article begins with this note because of the increasingly central place occupied by television in the Indian media sphere and the uniquely Indian context of the mutual interdependence of the television and film industries. While television has appropriated Hollywood film genres since its inception,2 in India, popular film culture is increasingly drawing on the pre-eminence of satellite television. A grasp of these facets of the subcontinent’s television story is essential before examining how TV news has taken on discursive and practice-based elements of the nation’s popular film culture, Bollywood. This will be undertaken through a close textual analysis of two recent Bollywood films, Peepli Live (2010) and No One Killed Jessica (2011). Both feature television journalism as an important narrative catalyst, or a remediator for the socio-political issues faced by the protagonist(s).     A Study of Moral Scheme in Henry Fielding’s The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling Khuman Bhagirath Jetubhai Research Scholar Aligarh Muslim University India Abstract The article discusses the moral scheme of Henry Fielding’s novel Tome Jones that has been labeled as corrupt and immoral by most of its contemporary critics. It analyses the reasons for being treated as such. The eponymous character of Tom whose adventures play a prominent role in tarnishing book’s image is investigated threadbare. Seemingly immoral character Tom’s admirable qualities are highlighted and what forces him to behave vilely is also studied. Instead finding him unrighteous, the author argues that he is normal human with its equal share of goodness and weakness that makes Tom’s character a lifelike, a welcome change from divinely pure, pious and one-dimensional characters as portrayed by Fielding’s contemporary novelists.
