After a close first half, the Lions ultimately pulled away from the Falcons in their pursuit of a championship ring. The first half featured a lot of back-and-forth action, giving us a high scoring affair. The Lions struck first as Emma Stahl took the first play from scrimmage 80-yards to the house for the . Emma made an awesome move along the sidelines to juke past the oncoming defenders, using her speed to break away and give the Lions a quick 7-0 lead. The Falcons answered with a great first dive. Savannah Ashby got things started with a 20-yard reception, and then Isabella Berhalter made a huge grab on third to move the chains. This then set up a 40-yard catch and run for Genna Woodroe, who used her speed to race up the sidelines and score on the play. Genna’s touchdown tied the game at 7. The Falcons forced a 3rd and long on the next drive, but then Emma Stahl came up clutch once again, taking a quick pass another 80-yards up the middle of the field for the score. Emma’s speed was too much to match early on. Genna Woodroe would make another big catch for the Falcons to close out the first quarter, with the score 14-7 in favor of the Lions. The Falcons answered to start the second quarter, as Ashlynn Bolsover busted out a huge 65-yard catch and run to tie the game at 14— racing the to endzone for the score. The Lions third drive started with a 35-yard catch and run by Haley Geartz, setting up a 4th and short near midfield. On 4th down, Ella Cashion made a clutch grab at the sticks to move the chains. On the ensuing first down, Natalie Prezioso hauled in a deep pass along the sidelines, before racing to the endzone—regaining the Lions’ lead. The scoring could not be tamed though as the Falcons answered with 2 minutes remaining in the frame. On the very first play of the drive, Isabella Berhalter went deep and made a textbook grab near midfield before out-running the Lions defenders for her first touchdown of the game—tying the game at 21. However, the Lions had one final trick up their sleeve for the half, as Natalie Prezioso made another deep grab in stride on 3rd down, racing to the endzone as the buzzer rang—giving the Lions a 28-21 lead at the half. The Lions dominated the second half, not giving up a point while scoring another couple of . The Lions stifling defense wore out the Falcons, as they used their incredible speed to stay close to the Falcons wide-outs—making life incredibly difficult for all of the girls in red. Ella Cashion and Haley Geartz led the way on defense, each breaking up 2 passes during the second half and locking down their assignments. Ella Cashion was also a force on offense during the 3rd quarter. Taking advantage of the short-field after a Falcons , Ella made an awesome catch across the middle of the field, getting down to the goal-line. Two plays later, Ella was found in the middle of the endzone for the touchdown to put her team up 35-21. The Falcons battled into the 4th quarter, getting a big turnover on downs early in the frame near the 5 yard line, but ultimately, the Lions defense was too much to overcome. Near the end of the fourth quarter, Haley Geartz scored on 4th down, running a slant route across the middle of the redzone before racing into the endzone. Haley’s touchdown put this game out of reach, and secured the victory for the Lions. With the win, the Lions clinched a trip to the championship game, where they will face the Saints at 2 pm on November 7th.

5th-8th Grade Girls NT Rec Flag Football Saturday, October 31, 2020 Saints 35, Seahawks 7 Saints Dominate to Punch Ticket to Championship Game

The Saints dominated in their semi-final victory over the Seahawks on Halloween, winning the game 35-7. The speed of the Saints was too much for the Seahawks to handle for the duration of the game. The Saints got started with a 45-yard reception by Ellie Steves, who picked up a first down. Then, Ava Seelbach gained 25-yards off a nice drag route across the field, setting up Lia Seelbach for the 10 yard touchdown. The Seahawks answered right back. After a 10-yard reception by Avery Devonshire, Ella Smith made and awesome catch near mid-field when she leaped for the , regained her footing, and then raced all the way to the endzone for a 70-yard touchdown. This tied the game at 7 at the end of the first quarter. Ultimately, this was the final touchdown for the Seahawks on the day, as the Saints played tight defense throughout the afternoon. Natalie Caccamise had a great game on defense, breaking up an incredible 8 passes thrown her way. Ava and Lia Seelbach also had strong games on the defensive side of the ball, recording 3 tackles each, and 3 total pass break-ups. On offense, the Saints were hummin’, making big plays by coming back to the ball when a play would break down—making it virtually impossible to cover them. Natalie Caccamise scored an 80-yard touchdown to start the second quarter, and then Ava Seelbach scored a 75- yard touchdown near the end of the frame to give the Saints a 21-7 lead heading into halftime. The dominance continued in the second half, as Ava Seelbach took a 3rd down and long 75-yards to the house late in the 3rd quarter. The Saints used their speed to race past the defense, getting to the edge and then using their awareness of when to cut it back inside. Bridget Lyons had 4 catches for 95-yards on the day too, and Lennea Caccamise also had a pair of receptions. Lia Seelbach would score in the middle of the 4th quarter, to give the Saints their 35-7 score. Despite the loss, Juliana Haacker had 4 receptions for 125 yards, connecting on three passes of 40-yards or more throughout the game. Ella Smith also finished with 4 catches for 120 yards, while Avery Devonshire and Taylin Bush each recorded a reception. With the win, the Saints move into a championship matchup against the Lions on Saturday, November 7th at 2 pm.
