Mysore Tourist attractions Mysore is the second largest city in the state of Karnataka, India. The name Mysore is an anglicised version of Mahishǌru, which means the abode of Mahisha. Mahisha stands for Mahishasura, a demon from the Hindu mythology. The city is spread across an area of 128.42 km² (50 sq mi) and is situated at the base of the Chamundi Hills. Mysore Palace : is a palace situated in the city. It was the official residence of the former royal family of Mysore, and also housed the durbar (royal offices).The term "Palace of Mysore" specifically refers to one of these palaces, Amba Vilas. Brindavan Gardens is a show garden that has a beautiful botanical park, full of exciting fountains, as well as boat rides beneath the dam. Diwans of Mysore planned and built the gardens in connection with the construction of the dam. Display items include a musical fountain. Various biological research departments are housed here. There is a guest house for tourists.It is situated at Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam. Jaganmohan Palace : was built in the year 1861 by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III in a predominantly Hindu style to serve as an alternate palace for the royal family. This palace housed the royal family when the older Mysore Palace was burnt down by a fire. The palace has three floors and has stained glass shutters and ventilators. It has housed the Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery since the year 1915. The collections exhibited here include paintings from the famed Travancore ruler, Raja Ravi Varma, the Russian painter Svetoslav Roerich and many paintings of the Mysore painting style.

Educational Services for Tibetan Students with Disabilities Living in India: a Case Study
INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SPECIAL EDUCATION Vol 29, No: 2, 2014 EDUCATIONAL SERVICES FOR TIBETAN STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES LIVING IN INDIA: A CASE STUDY Britany Barnes Gordon S. Gibb Betty Y. Ashbaker Mary Anne Prater Brigham Young University This case study describes services for students with disabilities at Karuna Home in Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India, a residential facility established to address the needs of individuals whose parents are primarily Tibetan immigrants. Interview, observation, and document review data collected over three months were used to describe and explain sociocultural and educational aspects of the school. Findings indicate that service providers embrace Tibetan Buddhist beliefs about individual worth and charitable service that can benefit the children and their caregivers in this life and the next, and that karma and other factors play roles in disability. Areas of concern and needed professional development are described, including effective assessment of academic and behavioral needs, improved planning and instruction using data-based objectives, and reliable monitoring of student progress toward intended learning and behavioral outcomes. Study findings can inform others who endeavor to provide similar services to individuals with disabilities in small or unique populations. Introduction This case study describes services for students with disabilities at Karuna Home in Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India. Karuna Home is a residential rehabilitation center for students with cognitive or physical disabilities who are primarily children of Tibetan refugees. While education is generally below par in Tibet, it is of particularly low quality for students with disabilities (Postiglione, 2009; Postiglione, Jiao, & Xiaoliang, 2012; Zhiyong, 2008). Many Tibetans leave their homeland due to government restrictions, and some seek refuge in Tibetan settlements in India, where some education is successful.

International Journal of Advanced Research in ISSN: 2278-6236 Management and Social Sciences Impact Factor: 4.400 DEMOGRAPHIC STATUS OF TIBETAN SETTLEMENTS IN KARNATAKA Tenzin Tsekyi* Dr. Navitha Thimmaiah** Abstract: Tibetans have been resettled in India since from 1959 onwards. India has remained the host country for Tibetans for more then 50 years. The Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1959 in the name of liberation has led to taking refuge of His Holiness the 14th Dalia Lama along with few Tibetans in India as a political refugee. With this, influx of Tibetans into India has continued till 2008 unrest in Tibet with less number of Tibetans coming out from Tibet. At present, the estimated population of Tibetans living in India was 94,203 as per (Demographic Survey of Tibetans in Exile-2009). Out of this, a major portion of Tibetans have resettled in southern part of India, i.e., in Karnataka state (with 44523 as per a 2009 demographic report). Moreover, there are five Tibetan settlements in Karnataka state. The main objective of this paper is, to analyze the demographic status of Tibetans in Karnataka and to analyze the age-wise composition of Tibetans in Karnataka state. This paper is purely based on the secondary data. Statistical tools like bar graph, annual growth rate, pie charts and trends are used to measure the demographic changes in the Tibetan settlements. The results of the study reveal that there exists a difference in population among the settlements and gender differences also known as the gender ratio is unfavorable that is the male outnumber females in all the settlements, which is a demographic condition that needs immediate attention.
