This term we are blending I’m not sure what I was expecting when I approached Girl Guiding about a ‘Bugs life’ challenge with a ‘Sparkly dance’ challenge. And yes, at the volunteering for Rainbows. It’s turned out to be a highly rewarding time end of term, challenge badges are awarded with much delight. that I look forward to each fortnight. As well as being such a popular activity for local girls, it’s really Firstly, the basics; Rainbows is the youngest part of the Girl Guiding rewarding for us volunteers too. We welcome interest from prospective organisation. It’s open to girls age 5 up to their 7th birthday. We mix new Rainbows and volunteers alike. Want to know more? Take a look and match educational activities, crafts, cooking and games. We blend at rainbows.girlguiding.org.uk. the noisier games with more quiet activities and so aim to appeal to all personalities and learning styles. And we go out and about when weather permits, take a look at us pond dipping! At Rainbows we reinforce that the girls can be whatever they set their minds on. There are four pieces that make up the Rainbow ‘jigsaw’ that underpin all our activities: – look, increasing awareness of the world around us, – learn, including empowering the Rainbows to apply this learning from time to time, – laugh, we do lots of that! – love, one of the tenets of the Rainbow promise is to be ‘kind and helpful’. Soloist autist Lucy Rashleigh performed Edelweiss beautifully, and pianist Luke Holcroft and Stephen Moore on clarinet both gave accomplished performances. Not to be outdone, the Beaver leader team took to the stage with a dance that left the audience speechless! We have so much talent in the Group, it is fantastic to see youngsters with such supreme con dence taking to the stage to entertain.
