http://www.therealmj12eyestothesky.com/ancient-aliens1.html Ancient Aliens therealmj12eyestothesky.com Intelligent extraterrestrials visited the Earth in ancient times and profoundly affected the development of human civilization. Alien life forms have influenced the development of human cultures , technologies , and religion. The Ancient Alien concept is decades old and was made popular in the late 50's and started reaching a fever in about 68' with the Chariots of the Gods... Picture Picture Picture We will be looking into many curiosities of the distant past, some that scream Ancient Alien, others a tribute to what the ancient civilizations definitely created and may believed. We will be looking into the Nazca Lines , Stonehenge, Easter Islands, Olmec faces, Puma Punku, and for starters ... let's take a back step , to where many scholars believe was the beginning , OF the beginnings .... ancient Sumeria. Sumeria~ Ancient Sumerians – The Cradle of Civilization The Anicent Sumerians are thought to be one of the first urban societies. In 4000 B.C., human beings in many parts of the world still hunted their prey, tended sheep, and lived in caves or huts. The evidence of any ancient civilization was elusive.1 In 1616, an Italian traveler, Pietro della Valla, identified the city of Babylon. Not only did he provide amazing descriptions of the Mesopotamian site, but he also brought back to Europe clay bricks bearing numerous wedge-shaped marks, that he had uncovered from great earth-mounds found at Nineveh and Ur.2 Archeologists realized that each great mound, tel, held the ruins of a city rebuilt in a single place time and again.

  • Last Week the History Channel Ran a Two Hour Presentation of a Film by Simcha Jacobovici on the Exodus Entitled the Exodus Decoded
September 3, 2006 The Exodus Last week the History Channel ran a two hour presentation of a film by Simcha Jacobovici on the Exodus entitled The Exodus Decoded. The film began with the question, “Did it happen?” I watched the film and realized that there were several things that were impressive. First of all was the fact that James Cameron, a Hollywood awarding winning director / filmmaker, had produced the program. During the presentation Cameron appeared sev- eral times with his own comments about the work that Jocobovici had done. What was equally impressive was the fact that there was a definite admission that God was behind these events. Not the usual sort of thing you hear from the Hollywood crowd. Jocobovici, like many others, linked the events to natural disasters that are recorded in ancient history but always included God as the force that was behind the events. The end result was the result of over ten years of investigative journalism that did much to reinforce belief in the divine being and the validity of the Bible. There were some errors in the film however and some of the explanations were based on conclusions that Jocobovici had made but it was able to stimulate some thought. One of the errors was in the length of time that passed from Abraham to Moses. This was given as 130 years in the film. We are told that on the day that the Israelites actually left Egypt, they had been in the country for 430 years (Ex 12.41). This is not an approximate time.

  • The Ancient Aliens Guy, His Hair, and Extraterrestrial Imperialism
The Ancient Aliens Guy, His Hair, and Extraterrestrial Imperialism Proposal by Stephen Few, English 102 At some point during the past few years, you may have tuned into The History Channel in hopes of seeing Pawn Stars or a new documentary. Instead of finding what you were looking for, you may have come across a show called Ancient Aliens. When watching Ancient Aliens, it becomes evident very quickly that the show is trying to convince viewers that extraterrestrials have visited Earth in the past. It is obvious that many people begin watching the show for a good laugh once they realize this, because the show is continually made fun of on the Internet and in pop culture. Some people don’t watch long enough because Giorgio Tsoukalos and his crazy hair make the show appear silly and incredible. The odd thing is that some of the ideas are logically possible. The Ancient Astronaut Theory, for example, is a very interesting explanation to many historical mysteries, though it is not taken seriously as a scientific theory. Tsoukalos and his team’s theories on aliens visiting Earth in the past are theoretically possible, so we should consider the implications if their theory is true. What effects will alien visitors have on environmental issues, world religion and cultures, and political organizations around the world in the future? What kind of preparations need to be made by the world in order to prepare for the next alien visitation? Giorgio A. Tsoukalos doesn’t have the college credentials of a world-famous archeologist; as a matter of fact, his body building hobby and sports medicine degree are far from archeology.

Department of Geography University of Exeter, Cornwall Campus WASTELANDS GEO3425 Edward Burtynsky, Chittagong, Bangladesh 2000 Module Convenor Dr Caitlin DeSilvey Lecture: Monday 15.00-17.00, Tremough House Sem W Seminar: Thursday 12.00-13.00, DuMaurier Sem H 1 GEO3425: Wastelands Module Description In this module, waste-making is approached as a dynamic cultural phenomenon that works to stabilize (and destabilize) social, spatial, and ecological orders. We study how waste is made and handled (household waste and waste management), how waste circulates through global systems (e-waste trade, geopolitics of waste), how wasted places are degraded and reclaimed (environmental remediation, post-industrial dereliction) and how ruined places are assigned cultural and aesthetic value (urban decay, historical appreciation of ruins). Module Learning Outcomes On completion of this module students should be able to demonstrate: Module Specific Skills: a) analyse critically the social and cultural aspects of waste spaces and places. b) review and evaluate the key theoretical precepts which underpin interdisciplinary understandings of waste as a cultural phenomenon c) comprehend the ways in which different social, political, economic and ecological processes come together to devalue and revalue certain places d) recognise and work with the methodological and ethical issues that attend the conduct of research in contemporary cultural geography. Discipline Specific Skills: a) synthesise information and recognise relevance and develop a sustained and reasoned argument with minimum guidance. b) illustrate and discuss the complex nature of interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding. c) identify and evaluate approaches to problem-solving, acting autonomously with minimum supervision. Personal and Key Skills a) collect and analyse information for themselves, using the full range of learning resources available.

FIENBERG Carnegie Mellon University What makes a problem suitable for statistical analysis? Are historical and reli- gious questions addressable using statistical calculations? Such issues have long been debated in the statistical community and statisticians and others have used historical information and texts to analyze such questions as the economics of slavery, the authorship of the Federalist Papers and the question of the existence of God. But what about historical and religious attributions associated with informa- tion gathered from archeological finds? In 1980, a construction crew working in the Jerusalem neighborhood of East Talpiot stumbled upon a crypt. Archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Author- ity came to the scene and found 10 limestone burial boxes, known as ossuaries, in the crypt. Six of these had inscriptions. The remains found in the ossuaries were re- buried, as required by Jewish religious tradition, and the ossuaries were catalogued and stored in a warehouse. The inscriptions on the ossuaries were catalogued and published by Rahmani (1994) and by Kloner (1996) but there reports did not re- ceive widespread public attention. Fast forward to March 2007, when a television “docudrama” aired on The Dis- covery Channel entitled “The Lost Tomb of Jesus”1 touched off a public and reli- gious controversy—one only need think about the title to see why there might be a controversy! The program, and a simultaneously published book [Jacobovici and Pellegrino (2007)], described the “rediscovery” of the East Talpiot archeological find and they presented interpretations of the ossuary inscriptions from a number of perspectives.
