Tribe tripped up by Arrieta as Series draws even By Jordan Bastian and Carrie Muskat / MLB.com | 2:45 AM ET CLEVELAND -- In what will be one historic World Series no matter the outcome, Jake Arrieta flirted with a different kind of history, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning on a brisk Wednesday night at Progressive Field. Arrieta went 5 1/3 innings before allowing a hit, and combined with Mike Montgomery and Aroldis Chapman on a four-hitter to spark the Cubs to their first win in the World Series since Oct. 8, 1945, a 5-1 victory over the Indians that evened the best-of-seven Fall Classic at one win apiece. Game 3 is set for Friday night, when Wrigley Field hosts its first World Series game in 71 years. "Wrigley, it's going to be -- you know, it's always good. It's always crazy good, but I'd have to imagine a little bit more than that, especially coming back at 1-1," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. "I think the folks will be jacked up about the win tonight. But it is, it's the finest venue there is in professional sports and maybe in all of sports. ... But now having a World Series to root for, it's going to be incredibly special." Being tied in the Series isn't new territory for Maddon. In 2002, he was a coach on the Angels, who lost the first game of each of their three postseason series, yet rallied each time to win the World Series.

UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO The 1~ann.'al Voice Since N98 Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 Volume 108, No. 8 ew aI in uie or arne a Alexlss Nrner Argonaut Fans going to Vandal game day this Satur- Q $ ! day may be surprised to find much of their usual parking spaces off limits. Since the end of last season changes have been in the works for game day parking. Uni- versity of Idaho Athletic Marketing Director Devon Thomas said it was a combination of student, faculty and public comments that led to the changes being implemented this season. Thomas said there had been complaints of fans who had game day passes but were still not able to get into the Kibbie Dome lot because of illegitimately parked vehicles. Thomas said the changes were needed to that parking facilities adequately pro- 'nsure vide for all fans. Several meetings were held this summer to discuss the changes. Representatives from parking services, the Presiden Ys Office, Van- dal scholarship donors and athletics attended the meetings. "We wanted something that was more ef- fective for our fans," Thomas said. "Some- thing top notch." This Saturday most parking behind the Kibbie will be reserved for Vandal Scholar- ship Fund donors and recreational vehicles. All vehicles parking in this lot will be re- quired to show a pass before entering. Even the visiting team busses will have to park on the street. However, ASUI Presiderit Jon Gaffney and ASUI athletics director Samantha Buck were able to negotiate for some set-aside student parking in the Kibbie lot. Some portion of area 57, the gravel lot located on Perimeter Drive', will be open for student pre-game ac- tivities,'affney said.

On Monday, NFL front offices got a good look at four schools that hope to hear some of their players' names called during the draft on May 8-10. With most of the major programs having completed their workouts, Monday's group was comprised of smaller schools: Louisiana-Lafayette, McNeese State, Morgan State and Towson. Very few pro days remain before the draft process turns from live evaluations to hunkering down in a conference room, poring over the last few bits of tape and setting up the final draft board for each team. Terrance West gains, loses 40 pounds in a matter of minutes The only major prospect of the day was Towson running back Terrance West, who's considered by many to have third-round potential and . Pleased with his combine numbers, West elected to forgo the measurable drills on Monday. The most interesting news surrounding the record-setting back was a tweet mishap by the ,West had measured in at 5'9, 262 pounds -- a nearly 40-pound increase over his combine weight. Having scored 41 touchdowns in his final season, West has been called a bowling ball, but Baltimore's claims would make that description a bit too literal. As clarified shortly after by, West actually weighed in at a much more believable 230 pounds. So how does Towson reward the man that set an FCS record for rushing yardage as a junior? Worst part of Terrance West's pro day. Ryan Mink (@ryanmink) McNeese State's Diontae Spencer runs absurd 40 Perhaps the biggest winner on Monday was McNeese State wide receiver and return specialist Diontae Spencer, who put up monster numbers for the 19 scouts who showed up in Lake Charles.
