The time has come to toast the most visible sandwiches in Charleston. Not necessarily the newest or hottest stacks between a sliced biscuit, but a tribute to the icons around the Lowcountry. There's the duck club at the Tattooed Moose and the gravy-doused Big Nasty over at Hominy Grill, and a dozen more including banh mi, po'boys and plenty of pork.

A note to all: burgers and hot dogs were not included, but everything else was fair game. Surely a few have slipped by unnoticed, so leave your forgotten favorite in the comments. Map data ©2014 Google

2 I agree with most of the sandwiches, but I think Queen St Grocery's #2. 03/28/13 12:36 PM Italian Sandwich should be on this list over some of the others. Was there a nomination process I overlooked? Jonah Jeter
