Artist Cottage Awaken your creativity at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s haven for self-discovery and expression. Our Artist in Residence will guide your through an offering of classes; whether a novice or an expert, the Artist Cottage is your sanctuary for expression.
Art Offerings Join us as we learn, explore and create artful interpretations of the world we see. Our Artist in Residence will offer assistance in translating your vision onto your work of art. Our art offerings are available on a rotating schedule and approachable for all skill levels.
Basic Drawing ~ $40 | 90 Minute Session | Novice Learn basic techniques in pencil that will allow you to truly see what you are drawing.
Beginning Watercolors ~ $60 | 90 Minute Session | Drawing Skills Recommended An experience in color, your watercolor class will teach you basic techniques that can be used to create an abstract, still life or landscape image. Our favorite way to spend the class is inspired by the beauty of the Ojai Valley.
Beginning Acrylic Class ~ $60 | 90 Minute Session | Novice Explore this versatile artist’s medium using a variety of painting techniques. Have fun with a vivid color palette and quick drying time as you allow your creative energies to flow.
Paint By The Glass ~ $65 | By Appointment | Novice Join us at the Artist Cottage to create a unique masterpiece on wooden canvas. Our art instructors will guide you step-by-step to design a beautiful replication of a featured painting. For morning classes, enjoy mimosas and continental breakfast refreshments as you design a work of art that becomes uniquely yours. In the afternoons or evenings, wine and cheese will be offered. Please contact Spa Ojai to schedule your reservation with a minimum of seven days advance notice. Cancellations require 72-hour notice. Glass Painting ~ $50 | 90 Minute Session | Novice Make a memory-inspired glass treasure. Paint a wine glass, champagne flute, beer mug or glass container for yourself or for a gift. It’s the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion or for a themed group activity. Cheers!
Seasonal Wreaths ~ $50 | 90 Minute Session | Novice Celebrate the bounty of the season inspired by the variety and splendor of the Inn’s Herb Garden. We will create wreaths wrapped with the fragrance of the Inn and made of the herbs and botanicals grown on property.
Tile Painting ~ $40 | 90 Minute Session | Novice Create a keepsake to remember your Ojai Valley Inn escape. Our Artist in Residence will inspire you to create a tile in spirit of the Inn or your personal residence.
Mixed Media ~ $50 | 90 Minute Session | Novice Let your imagination run free by combining the artistic presence of acrylics, found objects, paper images, glitter, feathers, beads, etc.! You will create a unique collage that represents you in the here and now.
Silk Scarf Painting ~ $75 | 2 Hour Session | Novice Gliding a brush over the silk, you will create a brilliant design on a silk scarf that can be treasured around your neck or used to embellish your favorite hat or bag. Explore, Learn, Make
Creative Experiences for Kids
Children’s Explorations At the Ojai Valley Inn, we embrace our most creative minds with a selection of art explorations designed with a child’s love of color and imagination in mind. Our Artist in Residence would be pleased to arrange any of our traditional art offerings as a private lesson for children under the age of 12 years. All art explorations for children under the age of 12 years will require a guardian in attendance. Explorative Painting ~ $30 | 60 Minute Session | Ages 6-12 Years Kids love to paint! Images take shape on canvas reflecting the ingenuous, creative talent of our junior guests. Found Nature Collages ~ $50 | 90 Minute Session | Ages 12-16 Years A guided walk through the Inn’s expansive campus will provide the materials we need to create a collage of nature. This is a seasonal activity. Mobile Making ~ $50 | 90 Minute Session | Ages 9-14 Years An innovative way to play with color, your child will learn the basics of color theory and put them to use creating a silk mobile. Treasure Jars ~ $40 | 60 Minute Session | Ages 6-12 Years Create a special container for all your personal treasures. Fill your vacation creation with pockets full of memories from your time at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa.
