STAFF GETS A BOOST--Kansas City recorded its first shutout at Camden Yards in nearly 10 years last night to drop its season ERA to 3.15, good for second in the , behind Oakland’s 2.67 mark...Yordano Ventura recorded the 14th quality start by a Royals this year, which ranks third in the A.L...while the starting staff leads the league in (137.1) and ranks second in ERA (3.08)...KC’s added a scoreless frame last night to drop its ERA to 3.34 for fourth-lowest in the Junior Circuit. DUFFY A TOUGHIE IN RELIEF--Danny Duffy, a 25-year old southpaw, has made the most out of his opportunity to contribute out of the Kansas City bullpen...a starter throughout his career, including 31 career big league starts entering this season, Duffy didn’t make the club out of spring training, but was recalled on April 12 to work in relief...all he’s done to this point is toss 8.1 shutout innings allowing only 5 hits with 2 walks and 11 strikeouts...he’s limited opponents to a .172 batting average and recorded a 0.84 WHIP...he was the winning pitcher on April 16 in Houston with a 2.0-inning stint.

NED IN HIS FOURTH FULL SEASON--The 16th full-time manager in franchise history, Ned Yost is 295-340 since he was named to his position on May 13, 2010...he recently passed (287) and Hal McRae (286) to move into fourth on KC’s all-time wins list...he is 22 wins shy of catching , who is third with 317 victories...Yost, who managed six seasons in Milwaukee (2003-08), is 752-842 all-time as a Major League skipper.
