TEXAS TECH WRAPS UP FALL SEASON WITH FIVE-GAME SERIES Just over a month ago the Red Raiders hit the field for the first time as a team as the first day of fall team practices was Friday, Sept. 13. The team will conclude the fall next weekend which will cap off its six-week fall season. Tech has held both team and individual practice dates during the fall season. Team practices have typically consisted of workouts that include the entire team at one time with numerous scrimmages throughout the month of September and October. Individual workouts are for small group work with limited number of student-athletes per coaching staff members.

BREAKING DOWN THE RED RAIDERS FALL ROSTER Texas Tech has a 39-player roster for the fall season, a total that includes 20 returning players. The roster includes 19 newcomers with eight position players and 11 pitchers (7 RHP, 4 LHP) that are new to the program. Tech has 10 transfers that joined the program along with nine freshmen.

TEXAS TECH RETURNS EVERY STARTING POSITION PLAYER FROM 2013 The balanced roster that head coach returns has a returning starter at all eight positions across the field. Tech also returns six pitchers that tallied at least 25-innings pitched from a year ago with eight pitchers that were used in a starting role during the 2013 season.

INCOMING RECRUITING CLASS RECEIVES A PAIR OF NATIONAL RANKINGS It hasn’t taken head coach Tim Tadlock and his coaching staff long to live up to their reputation of being among the top recruiters in the country as the 2013 class was ranked nationally by both Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball. Tech’s class of 19 recruits was ranked No. 24 in the nation by Perfect Game last year at the time of the initial signing class while Collegiate Baseball tabbed the Red Raider recruiting class No. 27 in the country. Tech’s recruiting class ranking by Collegiate Baseball was its first by the publication in 12 years. The last time Tech has a recruiting class ranked by Collegiate Baseball was with a No. 16 class in 2001.

TIM TADLOCK BEGINS SECOND SEASON AT THE HELM OF THE RED RAIDERS IN 2013-14 Tim Tadlock enters his second season as head coach of the Red Raiders in 2014. He led the Red Raiders to a 26-30 overall record and 9-15 record in Big 12 play during his initial campaign. It marked the second most wins ever by a Tech first-year head coach (Gary Ashby - 33 in 1984) while leading Tech to several impressive feats during the 2013 season. The Red Raiders broke school records in fielding percentage (.974) and double plays turned (68) while knocking off five nationally-ranked opponents, including defending NCAA champion Arizona with a midweek win in Tucson. Tadlock also guided Tech to three consecutive wins in three games over ranked opponents, a first by the Red Raiders in 11 years. Tech fielded the youngest team in the country in 2013 with 22 newcomers. This young squad developed throughout the season while winning eight of its final 14 games of the 2013 regular season. Tech’s 2013 season was also highlighted with taking two of three games over Texas in Austin - marking the program’s first series win over the Longhorns on the road since 2001. The Red Raid- ers also had a pair of Freshmen All-Americans, including returning first baseman Eric Gutierrez. The Red Raiders also had three Major League Baseball First-Year Players Draft picks under Tadlock in his first season at the helm. Tech’s draft picks included fifth-round right-handed pitcher Trey Masek who went to the Chicago Cubs.
