List of Public Roads Under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 Falkirk Council List of Public Roads under The Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 A ‘Public Road’ is one maintained by the relevant Roads Authority (RA). The Council is the RA for roads within its boundaries other than the motorways and trunk roads for which the RA is Transport Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government. [For information, a ‘Private Road’ is one maintained by persons or bodies other than the local RA. The designation does not necessarily imply that the general public do not have a right of access over the ‘Private Road’]. This list is believed to be comprehensive at the date of publication. The Council is in the process of adding certain footpaths to the list which have, to date, been omitted. Further, the implications of the quarterly updating regime appropriate to this information should be borne in mind. Legitimate matters of detail may be referred, in writing, to The Director of Development Services, Development Services, Abbotsford House, Davids Loan, FALKIRK FK2 7YZ. Copyright Issues In respect of the List Of Public Roads, any further use of the information must comply with the terms of Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and the Copyright and Roads in Databases Regulations 1997. In particular, any commercial use or re-use of the information provided requires the prior written consent of the Council. Requests for such consent should be addressed to the Director of Development Services, Development Services, Abbotsford House, Davids Loan, FALKIRK FK2 7YZ. Some or all of the information may be subject to third party copyright, in which case the permission of the third party copyright holder may be required. No claim is made in respect of third party copyright. Format of the List of Public Roads The list is provided in two parts and it may be necessary to scan both parts to be sure of obtaining complete information. The first part lists Roads/Streets by their official name or description. The second part lists alternative unofficial names for certain roads. Glossary In the List of Public Roads, the following terms are used: Name The formal/official name of a road Description The formal/official description of a road which does not have a formal name Number The route number.
