60TH DAY] TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2020 6081 STATE OF MINNESOTA NINETY-FIRST SESSION - 2020 _____________________ SIXTIETH DAY SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2020 The House of Representatives convened at 12:00 noon and was called to order by Melissa Hortman, Speaker of the House. Prayer was offered by the Reverend Richard D. Buller, Valley Community Presbyterian Church, Golden Valley, Minnesota. The members of the House gave the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. The Speaker administered the oath of office to the new House member, Paul Novotny, from District 30A. His certificate of election is on file. He was elected in a special election held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 to replace Nick Zerwas whose resignation was effective on Friday, December 6, 2019. The Speaker administered the oath of office to the new House member, Sydney Jordan, from District 60A. Her certificate of election is on file. She was elected in a special election held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 to replace Diane Loeffler, who passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019. RECESS The members of the House recessed to honor and recognize three National Guardsmen who perished in a helicopter crash on Thursday, December 5, 2019: Warrant Officer Candidate Kort M. Plantenberg, Chief Warrant Officer 2 James A. Rogers, Jr., and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles Paul Nord. RECONVENED The House reconvened and was called to order by the Speaker. The Chief Clerk proceeded to read the Journal of the preceding day. There being no objection, further reading of the Journal was dispensed with and the Journal was approved as corrected by the Chief Clerk.
