Six years later, in 1891, the Ichabod foot- ball tradition entered a new era as Washburn played its first season of intercollegiate com- Washburn Ichabod Football petition. Washburn Conference Ties Throughout its athletic history, Washburn has looked beyond the state borders of Kansas to find conference affiliations. The university has competed in nine dif- ferent conferences, including its current association with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), a NCAA Division II league of insti- tutions in Missouri and Kansas. Washburn’s longest association was with the Central Intercollegiate Conference, of which the Ichabods were members from 1941 to 1968. Like the MIAA, the CIC included institutions in Missouri and Kansas. Membership in three conferences were more regional in nature, forcing the Ichabods to travel throughout five states. The Missouri Valley Conference consisted of schools in Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Missouri, many of whom are currently NCAA Division I member institutions. Both the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Great Plains Athletic Conference put the Ichabods on the road to Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Nebraska and Kansas. Washburn has won two outright conference championships, while earning co- championships four times. The Ichabods were Central Conference co-champions in 1931. They held the title of Central Intercollegiate Conference co-champions in 1949, 1953, and 1954. In 1964, Washburn won its first outright championship by claiming the Central Intercollegiate Conference title. Washburn’s most recent conference crown was won in 1983 as members of the Central States Intercollegiate Conference. 103 2004 Media Guide ICHABOD HONOR ROLL CoSIDA NCAA 1964 Bob Noblitt, 1st Will Kerns, DB 1968 Don Prince, DL Division II All-America Robert Hardy, 1st Darren Heer, FB Reggie Carr, DB 1995 Michael Dritlein, WR, 2nd Joe Schartz, QB 1966 Dan West, LB Little All-America Dan Smith, DE Mike Sipotz, OL Daktronics 1964 Bob Hardy, HB, 1st Brian Fuemmeler, P/PK Dode Lesser, OL All-Midwest Region 1964 Dode Lesser, OT, DE, HM 1995 Gabe Clements, OL Mickey Romano, FB 2002 Eric Roth, P, 1st Jeff Koch, LB Pat McCrite, DE 1999 Kevin Wheeler, OL, 2nd NAIA Academic Will Kerns, HB Rodger Tiesing, DT 1996 Zuri Stokes, CB, 2nd All-American Dan Smith, DE 1965 Steve Milosovich, OL Leroy Harman 1995 Michael Dritlein, WR, 1st 1986 Tim Beasley, P, 1st Joe Schartz, QB Pat Scherzer, HB Mark Brinker, FS, 1st Michael Dritlein, WR 1964 Pete Roscetti, E (1946-49) Football Gazette Darrin Rohr, RB, 1st Tony Scollieri, LB Dode Lesser, OL All-America Pete Flannigan, WR, HM 1994 Michael Dritlein, WR Bob Hardy, B 1988 Troy Slusser, WR, 1st Mike McGreevy, TE, HM Beau Caryl, DE Rodger Tiesing, DE 1995 Michael Dritlein, WR, 1st Mike VanSickle, DB, HM Jeff Koch, LB Bob Noblitt, DL Aaron Walker, WR,HM Kirk Potter, WR Ron Katzenmier, DB Cacuts/Snow Bowl All-Star Joe Schartz, QB Pat Scherzer, DB Game Participant MIAA Freshman of the Year 1993 Michael Dritlein, WR 1963 Bill Harper, RB 1998 Joe Busby, OL 2003 Trent Hearn, RB Brett Miller, LB Bob Noblitt, DL 1999 Marc Nardella, WR 2002 Sam Sissom, WR Kirk Potter, WR Jack Clanton, DL 2001 Colon McNeal, WR 2000 Tyler Schuerman, QB 1992 Kirk Potter, WR Curt Miller, DB 2002 Eric Roth, P 1991 Tracey Hoffman, WR 1962 Warren Dorby, OL Art Fletcher All-MIAA Dan Holloway, QB 1961 Bob Pfannenstiel, G (1946-49) GTE / CoSIDA 2003 Tim Watts, OL, 2nd Scot Koranda, LB Warren Dorby, G Academic All-America Trent Hearn, RB, 2nd 1990 Craig Beam, DB 1960 Dick Patterson, DT 2003 Eric Taylor, DE, 2nd 2002 Eric Roth, P, 1st Dan Holloway, QB Jerry Hedger, OT 1999 Aaron Doonan, DE, 2nd Tim Watts, OT, 2nd Scot Koranda, DB Bob Ogle, HB 1995 Michael Dritlein, WR, 2nd 2001 Colon McNeal, WR, 2nd Jon Bingesser, HB 1993 Michael Dritlein, WR,2nd Anders Grove, OT, 2nd All-CSIC Dale Milles, G 2000 Brandon Rainer, FB, 2nd 1988 Troy Slusser, WR 1957 Don Luttrell, HB GTE / CoSIDA Jared Barge, OC, 2nd Steve Sheehan, OL 1954 Nick Cossman, T Academic All-District Eric Taylor, DE, 2nd Barry Griffiths, QB Chet Duncan, TE 2003 Eric Taylor, DE, 1st Chad Todd, K, 2nd 1987 Jim Butler, DE Chuck Nelson, QB Matt Durler, OL, 2nd 1999 Corey Phipps, LB, 2nd Mike Gibson, OG 1953 Ralph Bowen, TE Pat Scherzer 1999 Aaron Doonan, DE, 1st Aaron Doonan, DE, 2nd Troy Slusser, WR Chet Duncan, TE (1962-65) 1998 Aaron Doonan, DT, 1st Marc Nardella, WR, 2nd Troy Stedman,OL Bill Baker, HB Joe Banks, WR, 2nd 1998 Marc Nardella, WR, 1st 1986 Charles Braden, DT 1952 Don Bliss, T 1997 Darren Heer, FB, 1st Joe Busby, OG, 1st Mark Brinker, FS Bill Baker, HB Gabe Clements, DL, 1st Lydell Flowers, RB, 2nd Nick Kresic, PK 1951 Ivan Crabaugh, HB Aaron Doonan, DL, 2nd Travis Smith, SS, 2nd Jerry Nall, OT 1949 Art Fletcher, HB Brian Fuemmeler, P, 2nd 1997 Tony Scollieri, LB, 2nd Shawn Rose, LB Leroy Harmon, HB Brent Stones, OL, 3rd Chris Swirles, FS, 2nd 1985 Charlie Braden, DE Jerry Rogers, C Dan Smith, DL, 3rd Willie Sapp, HB, 2nd Nick Kressic, K Jerry Reichart, G Ryan Bradbury, DB, 3rd 1996 Zuri Stokes, CB, 2nd 1983 Dan Remboldt, DE 1948 Elmer Betts, C 1996 Gabe Clements, DL, 1st Tony Scollieri, LB, 2nd Tim Schlegel, LB Bob Shields, G Jeff Koch, TE, 2nd Beau Caryl, DE, 2nd Dino DeLisa, RB Art Fletcher, HB Dode Lesser 1995 Michael Dritlein, WR, 1st Joe Busby, OL, 2nd 1979 Andy O’Neill, DB Leroy Harmon, HB (1965-66) Joe Schartz, QB, 2nd 1995 Michael Dritlein, WR, 1st John Prince, OL 1994 Michael Dritlein, WR, 2nd Bryan Dugan, OL, 1st 1977 Clarence Taylor, RB All-MVC 1993 Michael Dritlein, WR, 1st Maurice Ragland, CB, 2nd Steve Burkdoll, DB 1935 Ben Owen Nolan Jeffrey, FS, 2nd Brent Cripps, RB Burger King Scholar 1994 Michael Dritlein,
