Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf Governing Body Annual Report 2020-21 Head: Matthew H T Evans Chair of Governors: Elinor Patchell Vice-Chair: Simon Williams Coron gwlad ei mamiaith Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf Letter of introduction by the Chair of Governing Body Dear Parent / Guardian, It is a privilege to write to you this year on behalf of the governing body of Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf following another successful and busy year for our school. I am delighted to welcome Mr Matthew Evans as our new Head from September, who has led the school community well in difficult circumstances. I would also wish to pay tribute to the dedicated and extensive leadership of Mr Alun Davies, who retired in the Summer of 2020. Mr Davies led Glantaf for the past decade, and throughout this extended time, ensured Glantaf’s high standards in examinations, in extra- curricular activity and in growing a real community spirit at Glantaf. During this period, the third Welsh Medium Comprehensive, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Edern opened and Mr Davies’s support and leadership ensured the best possible start for Bro Edern, who shared the campus with Glantaf during the first year as well as managing the impact of this significant change on Glantaf’s catchment and population. On behalf of the entire school community and Governing Body I wish him well for a well-deserved retirement. The Covid pandemic has truly affected every aspect of our daily lives, however the longer- lasting effects on our children and young people continues to concern parents, and the wider education system. -

Rabodirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2013/14 ROUND 15 PREVIEWS ROUND 15 FIXTURES
RaboDirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2013/14 Round 15: 20th – 23rd February 2014 ROUND 15 PREVIEWS With the international weekend kicking off on Friday night, the majority of the RaboDirect PRO12 games take place on Sunday, however Cardiff Blues open round 15 with their game against current champions, Leinster at the Arms Park on Thursday evening and if past form is any guide Cardiff will have their work cut out to claim victory in this match. The sole game on Saturday is also in Wales with Edinburgh Rugby visiting Llanelli to play Scarlets, who missed out last round due to the weather in Belfast. The Scots do not travel well, so Scarlets must be hoping to put their own home record back on track in this fixture. The remaining four games take place on Sunday, with a TV double header in Italy, Benetton Treviso hosting Ulster and Zebre facing another Irish province, Connacht. Connacht’s victory over Edinburgh last time out saw them swap places with Zebre at the foot of the table, which could be reversed if Zebre claim this tie. Ulster on the other hand will be hoping they can make up some ground on the teams above them in the Play-Off zone. At the same time the remaining two Welsh regions will be in action in the principality. Newport Gwent Dragons opponents’ Glasgow Warriors, currently sit in 4th place in the table courtesy of one more win than Ulster, and still have two games in hand over the three teams above them. The outstanding game must be the pick of the weekend, leaders Munster travelling to face 3rd placed Ospreys, who claimed a record victory over Treviso in their last game at the Liberty Stadium. -

RHYFELWYR LLANELLI WARRIORS TYMOR 2017 - 2018 SEASON Rhaglen Exhibition Match Exhibition Match Sunday 17 Carmarthen AthleticRFC £2 th December 2017 Programme 1 Personal Player sponsorship is still available Ask committee for details 2 Last time out: Llanelli Warriors 15 25 Llanishen 26/11/17 Tough Day for Tired Warriors Llanishen say goodbye to USK road in style. A Warriors side rather depleted the day after a hard match and heavy night, still played a full part in this entertaining game that helped Llanishen end their time at USK road before moving on to a purpose built 3G pitch next season. With 6 last minute withdrawals the Warriors had to reshuffle. Gwilym moving to scrum half at such moments has become standard but also moving out of the pack were Nathan Lawson at 13 and Jordan Jones at 14. Llanishen fielded a combined XV of 1sts and 2nds and set abut enjoying themselves. Cross kicks and ambitious passes were the order of the day but stout defence and some lapses frustrated them for most of the game. The Warriors dominated at times and the pack worked hard in rumbling forwards with Jenkins, Mark Lewis, Dai Haines and Richard Evans all going strong and man of the match Tomos Hall hitting ruck after ruck. Llanishen never looked like losing and crossed for 5 fine tries as they showed off their full range of skills. The Warriors got on the board in the 1st half when the elusive Andrew Davies wriggled through. The 2nd half was closer with Ben Winstanley turning through a pile of bodies and right at the death Davies followed up a scrum half break to bag his 2nd try. -
