Job Title: Development Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Vice President of Business Development Physical Strength: Light (L)

Position Summary Business Development Manager assists with recruitment, expansion and retention efforts including research relative to industry targets and client proposals and prospect requests, project and client hosting, as well as overall support to business development and community partners seeking assistance with business retention and expansion opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Business Recruitment and Research • Researches inbound and targeted prospects, and compiles and prepares all necessary information to build the business case for clients o Creates proposals in response to company inquiries o Helps manage the recruitment pipeline of ongoing projects with the VPs of Business Development o Researches and maintains the database of available incentives and programs at the state (OR and WA) and local levels o Coordinates regional in-bound responses (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs and similar) o Presents to prospects, GPI investors and key partners as needed • Works with community and state partners on business recruitment activities • Supports business development efforts to build relationships with site-selection consultants, corporate real estate executives and company decision makers; similarly establishes connections to local commercial real estate community • Joins VPs on monthly sales missions to key domestic and international markets and deploys multi-channel sales approach to generate leads and prospects • Support VPs in submitting client responses in an accurate, timely and professional manner; enters, maintains and updates project information in CRM database

• Engages in economic and industry research o Stays up to date with relevant data sources and obtains accurate and current statistics o Tracks and documents research methodology

Business Retention and Expansion Opportunities • Works with community and state partners to support business retention and expansion activities • Provides leadership to communities seeking alignment of local and regional economic development strategies

Business Case Development and Industry Expertise • Works with the VPs of Business Development and Director of /Communications to develop industry profiles that focus on region’s value proposition, key selling messages and data-driven factors relevant to company expansion and growth • Familiarizes self with target industries and stays current with industry news, trends and state/local policies impacting or encouraging growth of industries in the region

Experience in a regional economic development model, and international marketing and business a plus. • Manage multiple and competing priorities quickly and efficiently. • , working within external/internal cross-functional teams. • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation and as a relationship builder.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in marketing sales/recruitment and/or other relevant disciplines preferred. Fluency in a foreign language is a plus.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Strong ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills

Job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including most of the products in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be able to communicate by e- mail and use scheduling software.

Reasoning Ability

Strong ability to interpret and analyze data, translating it into business strategy and economic development messaging. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver’s license is required.
