Great press: WCOO, WDST, WFPK, WMVY, WTMD... “Southern tinged psychedelic roots-pop with a LA Times, Rolling Stone, Elle, Filter & more Entertainment Weekly: “Tunesmiths To Watch” touch of old-school country goodness.” - Paste Tracking down WERS writes up Will Dailey “’Astounding’ would be an accurate description of the scene at The Ingrid Michaelson Paradise Rock Club on Saturday, March 24th. Let’s observe the scenario. First off, it was Saturday night, the night when “going out” for the adult set usually entails popping up at a bar or nightclub, then going home at 2am. Second, and this is not meant as a put down in any way, but Will Dailey is not a huge star yet on the national scene, despite his recent signing to CBS Records. Yet the Paradise was jam packed with an exuberant crowd of people of all ages, eagerly waiting Will’s entrance to the stage. Yes, Boston truly showed its support for one of its musical sons. Any doubt of Boston having a vibrant music scene that people care about should be cast away. To credit Dailey: his live show warrants this ecstatic response. Amid slightly eerie background music, Dailey bounded on to the stage like a panther on the prowl and immediately took up a position behind the It seems everyone is finding out about Ingrid lead microphone. Guitar bound midway up his body, Dailey began Michaelson because of her song “The Way I delicately strumming, which then evolved into full bodied chords. Over Am” being used in an Old Navy tv campaign. these, his strident voice carried his eloquent words to the crowd, who were more than eager to sing them right back to him. The single is currently #12 in sales on iTunes, After this dramatic introduction, Dailey’s superlatively talented backing and the album is #15. She’ll be on tour this band, The Rivals, took the stage and armed up from their arsenal of month with Matt Nathanson and new solo guitars. While Dailey’s intro song acted as just that, when backed by The dates keep getting added. You should check Rivals, each song took on a very unique quality. Each was performed as her out for yourself... if it were Dailey’s last song he would ever get to play, and when the encore With Matt Nathanson: came much later, it almost seemed 10/15 Northampton, MA (Pearl Street) redundant. By that point, Dailey didn’t need to prove anything to the listener, 10/16 Rochester, NY (Water St. Music Hall) as each stop on the set list could have 10/17 Charlottesville, VA (Satellite Ballroom) acted as a fitting conclusion. Thus, the 10/18 Washington, DC (9:30 Club) show almost seemed like one extremely 10/20 Atlanta, GA (The Loft) long climax, holding the fans at rapt attention, singing along like there was 10/21 Nashville, TN (3rd & Lindsley) no tomorrow, adding solid harmonies to songs like “Boom Boom” that Dailey and guitarist Cris Driscoll started on. 10/23 Austin, TX (The Parish) While most of the show focused on Dailey’s more recent album, the 10/24 Dallas, TX (House Of Blues) fantastic Backflipping Forward, Dailey was willing and most definitely eager 10/26 Ft. Collins, CO (Aggie Theatre) to dig up a couple gems from his debut, Goodbyeredbullet. 11/2 San Francisco, CA (The Fillmore) Experimentation was also the word of the night, as Dailey stripped some songs down to just himself and an un-miced ukelele, or in the case of set 11/3 Los Angeles, CA (Troubadour) closer “Dear Gracie,” a completely a cappella arrangement. Such is the talent of Dailey and The Rivals, in their ability to bend and contort Not with Matt Nathanson: themselves into whatever space music may provide them. 11/9 Chicago, IL (Schubas) At a Will Dailey show, you will see a man completely consumed by his passion for music, and driven into an almost frenzied state. You will watch 11/16 New York, NY (Knitting Factory) as he swings and throws his body across the stage, his acoustic guitar 11/17 Vienna, VA (Jammin Java) almost hanging on for dear life. More notably, you will watch a performer who is able to craft enchanting alt-country songs with an astute sense of Oh, and by the way, Ingrid is currently the melody and the right amount of pathos. Most importantly though, you #1 Unsigned Artist on MySpace, with over should see him before he outgrows venues like The Paradise, because Will Dailey is certainly on his way up.” 70,000 plays on her page on Monday alone. - WERS, 88.9FM/Boston Performance Wrap-Up See Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova more than Once The stars of “Once” will be returning to North America for tour dates in November 11/5 Seattle, WA 11/13 Denver, CO 11/21 Boston, MA 11/6 Portland, OR 11/15 Austin, TX 11/22 Montreal, QUE 11/8 San Francisco, CA 11/17 Atlanta, GA 11/23 Toronto, ONT 11/9 San Francisco, CA 11/18 Washington, DC 11/24 Chicago, IL 11/10 Los Angeles, CA 11/19 New York, NY 11/25 Chicago, IL 11/11 San Diego, CA For up-to-the-minute AAA news...
