Description: The mission of 4C Child Care Unlimited is to promote early childhood education for all children by providing information, support and program development.

Child Care Resource and Referral Maintain a database of licensed child care providers in Genesee County and area (counties include Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac and Tuscola) for parents who need child care for their children. Also matches parents with child care providers who care for children with specialized needs. There is no fee for our service but child care should be discussed with the child care providers and their fees.

Program mission is to help families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with a problem drinking relative or friend. Similarly, Alateen is a recovery program for young people sponsored by AL-Anon members. The program of recovery is adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous and is based upon the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve concepts of Service. The only requirement for membership is that there is a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend.

National organization which provides information support and advocacy to help improve the educational recreational and health care opportunities of dead and hard of hearing children and youth.

Disease/Disability Information Mutual Support Groups Promotes parent-parent support, education and local networking via a toll-free voice/TTY phone line which offers encouragement and information as well as referral to local Parent Affiliated groups and experienced parents who live or work near the caller. AVKO Dyslexia Research Foundation was founded to help determine what dyslexia is, why traditional methods of teaching reading and writing fail to help most dyslexics learn to read and write, and what is needed to raise the level of literacy to the point where the words, illiteracy, phonemic awareness, learning disabilities, dygraphia, family literacy, adult literacy, and illegible handwriting will no longer have relevance. Provides training for parents, a library materials for teaching and free daily tutoring if necessary.

Mentoring Program Provides trained tutors who help persons of all ages learn to overcome dyslexia with spelling/reading classes.

Description: The Brass Ring Society to fulfill the dreams of children who suffer from a life threatening or terminal illness. The Society is a tax-exempt 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. The society reaches children in every state and Canada.

Wish Foundation Provides dream fulfillment for children (ages 4-17) with a life threatening or terminal illness. The main requirement is that the dream must be that of the child. Entire families are included where applicable. The most popular request, about 94%, is for trips for Disney World. Provides a 60-day supply of Glaxo Smith Kline medication for $5.00 to eligible individuals. Application must be made to a health care worker involved in the patient’s case.

Eligibility: Must be a U.S resident, not be eligible for any prescription drug benefit and meet income guidelines (currently $25,000 for an individual, higher for a family; subject to change). Application: Must be made by a patient advocate (any health care worker involved in the patient’s care).
