Danica Olsen, the reigning Miss Utah Valley University, won over judges in the preliminary rounds, making it to the top 10 out of 50 before being crowned the 75th Miss Utah. She will representing the state at the Miss America Scholarship Pageant next January in Las Vegas. “I’m stoked,” said Olsen, 21. “I worked really hard to get here. I won Miss Tooele County after trying for two years (winning in 2009) and Miss UVU after two years. This was my first time going into the state pag- eant. I was surprised, but I was mentally prepared. Winning is all in your head and I came to win. As soon as I won Miss UVU and headed to Miss Utah, I made the best version of me.” Maegan Burr Olsen, a junior at UVU and a 2008 Tooele High School graduate, will spend Hailey Jones hugs her son Carson at their home in Grantsville Tuesday morning.
