Father Francis Jordan was born on 16 June 1848 in Gurtweil, . After ordination to the priesthood on 21 July 1878, he was sent to Rome. He founded the Society of the Divine Saviour (Salvatorians) in 1881 and the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Saviour (Salvatorian Sisters) in 1888. He died on 8 September 1918 in Tafers in Switzerland. The Salvatorians in Australia began in 1961. The declaration of Pope Francis on 19 June 2020 finished the process on the miracle and opened the way towards the beatification of Fr. Francis Jordan. The Solemn Beatification Celebration in Rome was on 15 May 2021, at the Basilica of St. John Lateran.
