The Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute, Cinvestav after its name in Spanish), which is the most important scientific research institution in , has an open position for a full-time researcher in Information (IT) to be filled for its Campus located at , Tamaulipas (Mexico). The selected full-time researcher will develop scientific research projects in IT and related areas. The researcher will participate in preparing graduate students, both at an MSc and a PhD level, and should be willing to develop industrial projects. Candidates are required to hold a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer , Telecommunications, Applied , or a related field. A relevant research record is required. Both junior and senior researchers are encouraged to apply for the position. The type of appointment in turn could be as an Assistant or as a Full Research Professor. Research experience is emphasized over teaching experience. Nevertheless, the appointed researcher will participate in the graduate programs (MSc and PhD) of the Tamaulipas Campus and it is expected that the candidate would have light teaching load (one or two graduate-level classes per term), so that they the candidate will concentrate mostly on research activities. Cinvestav and the Mexican Council of Science and Technology fund graduate students to pursue their MSc and PhD degrees. Cinvestav offers a salary which is highly competitive within the Mexican context. It starts from about $30,000 USD a year plus some benefits and it varies depending on the curriculum vitae of the candidate.

Cinvestav is the top public research center in Mexico, with more than 620 full-time researchers and the highest scientific productivity (per faculty) of the country. The Cinvestav Tamaulipas Campus offers the Graduate (MSc and PhD) Program in Computer Engineering and Technology.
