Lead, Care and Inspire
August – November 2019 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 2 Years of Excellence
Success “ is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success
The world around us tends to revere material wealth and those who possess it, some mes ignoring talent, spirituality, honesty a n d s t e a d fastness. The true apprecia on of life is misleadingly considered to lie in the acquisi on and u liza on of material wealth. This path o en distances people from sources of las ng happiness as they choose instead to spend me in the pursuit of wealth.
These circumstances lead me to express my views on happiness and success. We must remind ourselves that happiness doesn't come as a result of ge ng something we don't have, but rather from recognizing and apprecia ng what we do have. The sa sfac on gained from a task well done is enormously greater than an impression created by flaun ng borrowed feathers. An honest commitment to yourself and your abili es, will definitely lead to eventual success which is less transient and more worthy of your abili es. We must leave our mark on every surface that we walk and con nue in our du es indefa gably, in the face of all odds. That could be a measure of our success.
Learning to succeed is indeed a wonderful experience which we wish for each of our students, without excep on. However, is success only defined by academic results? Crea ng a posi ve environment around you, where ever you go, helping the old and the young, learning about yourself and knowing how to appreciate the beauty of the world around, can also be considered to be measures of success. These successes spread infinitely more comfort and happiness around while bringing great sa sfac on to the individual.
Each school newsle er marks a milestone on the path of educa on which ul mately results in success and happiness of its students. Let us redefine our happiness and success and reward ourselves with blissful contentment! As we move towards the end of the academic session, I hope that each student persists in the honest pursuit of learning which will result in greater happiness and success rather than gaining knowledge. I wish you all the best! Surender P. Sachdeva - Principal GREEN SCHOOL DRIVE 2 Years of Excellence Awareness, expression and persuasion accentuated the con nuous drive to contribute to a clean, healthy and more viable environment through ac ve involvement and resourcefulness towards our contribu on to a greener planet! “The environment and the economy are really both two sides of the same coin. A MEMORABLE JOURNEY : We decided to undertake a journey during my summer holidays, through the gigan c Himalayan ranges to the Kunjum Top. We knew it would be a challenge but were astounded by what lay ahead of us. As we passed over the Punjab to the hills of Himachal Pradesh. It was apparent we were in for some intense moments.
The road which was running beside a deep gorge was very narrow. Then, there was a deep decline and the sky grew hazy. As we moved ahead, a fellow tourist intercepted us and warned us about an avalanche which had abolished the access to the road we were travelling on. We grew anxious as we were forced to wait for hours while the road was cleared. It was ge ng dark and all of us were truly exhausted. We decided to spend the night at a local home-stay. A courteous man there served us hot beverages filled with the aroma of local spices. We were craving food and soon had a hearty meal there.
Next morning, we thanked the man immensely and resumed our journey. As we covered half the distance we grew confident that we could accomplish what we had set out for. A er driving for five hours in high al tudes. we had finally reached Kunjum Top. It was indeed an achievement for us and we were glad to have accomplished it.

The Veggies Get Going
"I am starving, As I was treading down please give me food," The silent street Mom cuts something, In sheer solitude known as fruit. Trapped in topsy-turvy thoughts Wondering why the world She says,"Here you go my dear.” Makes me muddled But I was having a li le tear. By crea ng complica ons Mom says,"What happened my baby?" Which are strenous to solve. I said,"I don't want to eat a finger called lady." I said,"You're being mean" Days dri ed by She said,"Then will you eat a roasted bean?" As I looked out for long I said,"No forever, Searching for a solu on something good like chocolate and burger.” In everything and everywhere. Maybe in the middle "What the hell!" She said, I did overlook my answer "It's not healthy dear." Neglec ng it; not no cing "I'll give you a pear” Its indispensable presence banana or other fruit, In every nook and cranny, But not junk food." In everyone's existence.

And the energy to endure worse She said," You won't say that again To break bigger barriers when you try it." Mo va ng to do more; Bringing out the best in you. Paradise I was standing all alone on the beach, The sun was se ng, the darkness was coming The water was reaching my feet Like mee ng a new rainbow shirt wearing creature Wondering why there's no one with me It was just 8 pm, but my face was showing 12 all day long Like a broken clock. I started walking, not towards home, but to the deep Sun rays reflec ng sea, like I was being hypno zed But the difference was that I knew what I was doing
Suddenly, I stopped, like coming back to my senses I was on the verge of deepness of the water I didn't know how to swim so walked as fast as I could But a huge wave came, held me like a long, lost friend And started taking me with it.
There was no point in screaming, I was already underwater, Dri ing deeper and deeper into the endless darkness, I was hoping it'd quick but it didn't happen, I was s ll breathing I was breathing like I had ever breathed in my life All my sins, all my anxiety and depression We're floa ng away and came together to form a body That body looked like me And for a moment smiled and looked at me Then disappeared into the darkness.
I kept drowning and drowning Un l a white beam of light shone brightly And I stood up and looked around Fell from the ocean, right into A room completely white, with nothing but a door, with a white paint brush, And a note saying, “Paint Your Paradise and open up the door.” I looked around and saw the colors spilled on the floor I look at my shirt, seems all the colors from it were now Lying there, begging to used. I used that brush, to feel the colors I was surprised, horrified but relieved to find that they were true Not just another perfect illusion.

I touched the walls, they felt like new canvas sheets, begging me to paint on them. So I took the brush and painted the first wall to look exactly like the sky I was lost in, before I started drowning
All the bright reds, all the oranges, hints of yellow and lots of purple Etched on the once blank canvas sheet created that sky I always thought of when I used to be sad. I touched it but then something happened, My hand went through the canvas and so did my whole body because of surprise First it was darkness, but then I felt my feet touch something so and heavenly I was standing on one of the clouds I had painted, I ran, jumped, looked down to the city finding it to be as small as ants, Overwhelmed by the feeling of heaven I laid my head and went off to sleep.
When I opened my eyes I was back in that room where I painted my Paradise When I reached the door to open it, it didn't even let me twist the handle. Another note appeared “Broaden your mind and try again, is this really your Paradise?” I was pushed back by the ques on, but it made me think more carefully “What do I like more than that sky?” I took the paint brush again and went towards the second wall and painted a concert scene, where people are holding signs spelling my name, my lucky numbers, my song lyrics, I painted a spot on the stage under the spotlight, I sang my original songs, the ones I wrote when I was s ll new to wri ng Everything was mind blowing, I danced, I screamed, I sang, I enjoyed. I signed notebooks, faces, met people who were crazy to meet me All I ever would've wanted was happening in that moment. Then it started to rain, I closed my eyes to enjoy and feel each and every drop of water falling from the sky…
When I opened my eyes, I was back again in that same room, So it meant that someone is seriously trying to help me find my true Paradise So I went to the third wall, with a clear of what I wanted at that moment I used all the brown, the crimson red, the royal green, the royal blue, the topaz and painted my actual Paradise, A library containing hundreds of shelves of books, I entered the library, and found a boy wearing the exact same clothes and exact same glasses, the actual me. Sleeping, and dreaming of a world too false to be true like the one I'm wri ng and is being read by you I sat on the table no. 12, right next to him and woke him up So that he could write he saw through my eyes and made You rethink the concept of your actual PARADISE .

My Galac c Watchman
I used to think the sky was the ul mate natural crea on -the biggest, most beau ful and most versa le. But mountains of Himachal Pradesh, especially those of the Kug valley seemed to overshadow their grandeur.
On one end of the valley, at a great distance, is a peep of the Himalayas. The rocky steel hard body of the mountains seems to be wearing a torn out white hijab of snow. It stands over my family and me like a galac c watchman. One that will kick us out of the valley if we mess with it. This seems quiet impossible considering how powerless and worthless we feel in front of these formidable mountains. The peak further looks like a kid in front of the two mountains that flank the valley on opposite sides.
One of these is covered with a bright even shade of green and a muddy brown. The vegeta on is so dense and so far away that it is impossible to dis nguish one tree from another or even from a bush. The mountain is an ecosystem on its own. It seems to be providing shelter and food to thousands of birds and bears, everyday. At its nadir are purple patches of wild flowers beau fully complemen ng the regal hill. It is seemingly perfect. It knows its place in this li le corner precisely of our colossal earth. Looking at it we feel more and more like aliens every passing second. The sonorous whistle of the Blue Whistling thrush feeds the soul of the whole valley, as we con nue to explore it.
Although mammoth, the peak forming the right flank of the dale is completely different from the first two. It is liberally but unevenly blanketed by grass. Dozens of wild cows, with eyes the size of billiard balls, lazily feed on it. This par cular peak gently rolls down hundreds of feet. Tu s of purple iris are sca ered all over it. Along with flowers the mountain is also covered with rocks that add to its unadulterated beauty. From stones the size of my fingers to boulders taller than a car, this mountain has it all!
The mere absence of people captures these mountains in a serene s llness. They are Gods on their own; and truly impeccable crea ons of nature.
