1 Following High School Graduation, Different Students Are Ready for Different Life Experiences in Different Settings. As Part Following high school graduation, different students are ready for different life experiences in different settings. As part of every student’s IEP, the Transition Plan (page 6) indicates the three key areas of Transition. In the area of post- secondary education and learning, the objective reflects a plan for continued learning and growth that supports an independent and fulfilling future path. You are encouraged to work with your student’s teachers, PPT and other professionals to determine the best setting in which to continue your learning journey after high school. To assist you, we offer the following information (compiled from the K&W Guide to College for Students with Learning Disabilities/Princeton Review and other resources). The CPP does not endorse these schools or programs. We simply encourage you, if interested, to look further if you believe they might fit your student’s needs and learning profile. 1 Schools listed below offer structured programs for students with documented learning disabilities and/or ADD/ADHD. Most require additional fees and applications. Although they vary widely in structure and offerings, these programs generally provide intensive instruction in topics such as time management, executive functioning, learning style awareness and appropriate study methods, social adjustment to college, coping and stress management, assistive technology, writing and test-taking strategies and additional activities and resources for enrolled students. Many include one-on-one tutoring and learning specialist coaching, as well. They also assist students in obtaining the accommodations needed to succeed at the college level.
