At 18-under 266, he records a new 72-hole scoring record at the Quicken Loans National, topping the 267 totals by Tiger Woods in 2009 and Nick Watney in 2011. Merritt becomes the first player to win his first PGA TOUR title at the Quicken Loans National. Merritt’s first PGA TOUR title comes in his 96th start at the age of 29 years, 9 months and 8 days. His previous-best finish was a runner-up effort at the 2014 FedEx St. Jude Classic. Merritt earns fully-exempt status on the PGA TOUR through the 2016-17 Season. With the win, Merritt collects 500 points and jumps from No. 123 to No. 38 in the FedExCup standings.
