Melissa Robotti Built to Entertain Created as a showcase for extravagant summer entertainments, Rosecliff was modeled after the Grand Trianon, a baroque pavilion built in the great park of Versailles. After the house was completed in 1902, it hosted some of the most lavish social events of the Gilded Age, including a fairy-tale dinner and a party featuring magician Harry Houdini. Rosecliff continues in that tradition today and has been featured in many Hollywood films including The Great Gatsby, True Lies , and 27 Dresses .
