APPLE CARPLAY How it Works Apple CarPlay is a simple and smart way to use your iPhone in your vehicle. One of the new Phone Integration features available on select MyLink/IntelliLink/CUE infotainment systems, CarPlay enables iPhone users to display certain apps and functionality from their phone on the vehicle’s infotainment display, allowing them to control those apps and functions via the vehicle’s infotainment system touchscreen or voice commands. Key features of Apple CarPlay include the following: . Maps: The power and simplicity of Apple Maps come to your dashboard — complete with turn-by-turn directions, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars. Messages: Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages for you, so you never have to look at your iPhone while driving. Phone: Make calls, return missed calls, and listen to voicemail. Siri can help you do all these things. All you have to do is ask. Music: Access your artists, songs, playlists, and your Apple Music membership using your vehicle’s built-in controls. Or just tell Siri what you’d like to hear. 3rd Party Apps: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you’ve downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying podcasts, music, and radio. NOTE: Please refer to Apple website (http://www.apple.com/ca/ios/carplay/) for lists of supported 3rd party apps, global market availability, compatible smartphones for Apple CarPlay, and more details. Apple CarPlay may automatically launch upon USB connection. If not, press the Apple CarPlay icon on the HOME page to launch. The CarPlay home screen will appear, and you can choose the app you want to use. You can enter CarPlay mode, but then exit out to other MyLink/IntelliLink/CUE infotainment settings and menus at any time by pressing the infotainment HOME button. You can stream music or audible navigation directions from CarPlay while displaying MyLink/IntelliLink/CUE infotainment settings/menus, or listen to AM/FM radio while displaying Apple CarPlay Maps. You have the flexibility to choose. While plugged into USB port and running Apple CarPlay on the infotainment screen, the iPhone can still be used by a passenger to use other functions of the phone. If your iPhone is already connected to the MyLink/IntelliLink/CUE infotainment system via Bluetooth, upon connecting via USB and launching Apple CarPlay, your Bluetooth connection will disconnect. In the infotainment Settings menu, you have the ability to turn off Apple CarPlay entirely. To activate voice commands/Siri, you can do any of the following (SIRI function must be turned ON in your iPhone Settings menu): . Long press (i.e. press and hold) the voice command or phone button on either the steering wheel controls or the buttons below the infotainment system display .
