It felt so good to get out and take photos of some of the best cooks in the state. I looked around and there were at least 4 or 5 former Jambalaya Festival big pot and Mini Pot Champions and trust me they were raring to go. It’s amazing how much I learn from these folks as they pass along cooking secrets to each other and help their kids learn to compete. I was impressed that they did follow social distancing with their cooking station being at least 6ft apart and most greetings were met with a fist pump or an elbow rub. It turns out Bart Himel won 1st Place for the first time. He told me how hard it is to win at the local prestigious event. I’m looking forward to the next cooking event. Just call me and I’ll be there.
