Winchester Fine Floors AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT Why Vinyl? Vinyl flooring has quickly become the most requested flooring option for homeowners. It is an affordable alternative to hardwood or laminate flooring, and offers a wide range of features and benefits. Benefits of Vinyl Flooring All vinyl products are ideal for areas not suitable for laminate or hardwood, such as kitchens, bathrooms and basements. Commercial products are also perfect for hair salons, offices, restaurants and hotels. Easy do-it-yourself installation, with a variety of installation types available depending on the user's skill level. Vinyl flooring can be installed in almost any room, over almost any existing floor on, at or below grade. Today's high quality printing capabilities allow us to create decors that look just like real wood, stone, slate or ceramic. Hundreds of realistic patterns and colors are available. Because it is hygienic and easy to clean, resists scuffs and stains, and is sound absorbing, vinyl flooring is the perfect choice for families with kids or pets. Vinyl's softness and warmth provides comfort, especially when standing for long periods. Unlike laminate or engineered flooring, all our vinyl products are independently verified to be free of formaldehyde and VOCs. Virgin vinyl is also always free of ortho-phthalates. Options Available Installation Types Premium glue down/loose lay Self-locking (Vinloc) Sizes and Thicknesses Our sizes are 7.25" x 48" and 8" x 48" for premium glue down/loose lay planks, 6" x 36" and 6" x 48" for self-locking planks, and 12" x 24" for self-locking tiles. The thickness of the vinyl promotes its structural integrity. Premium glue down/loose lay have a 5 mm thickness. For self-locking planks, thicknesses range from 10 to 10.5 mm. Wear Layers The wear layer is critical for the performance and durability of the product once it is installed. Both Vinyl Plank premium glue down/loose lay and self-locking products are available with a 0.5 mm wear layer, which is commercial quality. Self-locking products are also available with 0.15 and 0.2 mm wear layers for residential uses. Finishes We offer a variety of textures to create a natural looking plank or tile. Embossing enhances the long- term appearance of the product. Finishes available include: Handscraped and light handscraped Wood grain embossing Embossed coral or slate Edges Beveled edges provide a more authentic appearance, while square edges create a seamless transition Vinyl Tile between pieces. Consumer Warranties and Customer Support Consumer warranties and customer support are integral components of our products. Competitive or better warranties are the norm and they are backed by a company capable of it. We also have a well trained team of customer service agents, and a website with consumer support features like FAQs and installation videos. For vinyl products, our warranty is based on the wear layer: WEAR LAYER THICKNESS CONSUMER WARRANTIES RESIDENTIAL COMMERCIAL 0.5 mm (20 mil) Lifetime 17 Year 0.2 mm (8 mil) 15 Year 6 Year (Light) 0.15 mm (6 mil) 10 Year 5 Year (Light) Definitions Residential: Kitchen, Bedroom, Dining Room, Recreation Room, Foyer, Bathroom Light Commercial: Small Retail Shop (up to 200 ft2), Waiting Room, Trade Show Booth, Small Office Commercial: Restaurant, Large Retail Shop, School Classroom, Large Office, Nurses' Station, Hair Salon (Working Area), Assisted Living Facility Care and Maintenance Vinyl flooring is very easy to clean and maintain. These are the guidelines that we recommend to consumers. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Use drapes or blinds to minimize direct sunlight during peak sunlight hours. Surface temperature should never exceed 84° F (29° C). If using an adhesive to install a premium glue down/loose lay floor, clean up any remaining or spilled adhesive with a damp cloth when finished. Allow the perimeter planks on a premium glue down/loose lay floor to adhere to the sub floor for 5 to 7 days before cleaning. Sweep regularly to remove surface grit and dust. Use a damp cloth or mop to clean up any dirt and footprints. All spills should be cleaned up immediately. CAUTION: Planks are slippery when wet. With premium glue down/loose lay products, avoid using excessive amounts of moisture, as this may cause bond failure for the adhesive. Never use wax, polish, abrasive cleaners or scouring agents as they may dull or distort the finish. Do not allow pets with unclipped nails to scratch or damage the floor. High heels can damage floors. Use protective pads under furniture. If it becomes necessary to move any heavy fixtures or appliances over the flooring on casters or dollies, the flooring should be protected with 1/4" (0.64 cm) or thicker plywood, hardboard or other underlayment panels. Use doormats at entrance ways to protect the floor from discoloring. Avoid using rubber- backed rugs, as they may stain or discolour the vinyl flooring. If you have an asphalt driveway, use a heavy-duty doormat at your main door, as chemicals in asphalt can cause vinyl flooring to yellow. It’s a good idea to save a few planks in case of accidental damage. Boards can be replaced or repaired by a flooring professional. Premium Glue Down/Loose Lay Vinyl Plank You can install premium products either glue down for a permanent installation or loose lay for a quick, easy installation. A non-slip traction backing keeps the planks or tiles where they are placed. Our premium vinyl is sound rated to IIC 67, so it can be installed in multi-family units. Composition Nano Silver Treatment Nano-sized particles of silver are an anti-microbial agent that efficiently kills most bacteria, viruses and molds, but is non-toxic to people and pets. Available on some products only UV-Cured Urethane with Ceramic Bead Technology Our wear layers are topped with a urethane coat cured with ultra violet light, not heat, for better performance and durability. Microscopic beads of ceramic are added to the urethane coat to provide an extra layer of protection, as well as to increase anti-slip properties. • Guide to Planks and Platforms
PLANK-PLATFORM SECTION SSFI TECHNICAL BULLETIN Planks and Platforms: A Comparison of Advantages and Disadvantages When planning a scaffold job, among the many decisions that must be made is what to use to construct the work deck(s) on the scaffold. There are a number of choices – wood planks, metal planks (hooked and unhooked), composite planks, fabricated decks and fabricated platforms. Each has its advantages and disadvantages that must be considered before making a decision. 1. Wood Plank – available as solid sawn lumber, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), edge laminated plank and pinned plank. Advantages: • Can be used in different size scaffold bays by lapping end • Can be cut to lengths or notched as required • Can be nailed to if necessary • Easily handled by one worker • Relatively inexpensive • Does not conduct electricity • Does not retain heat like metal plank Disadvantages: • Maintenance is critical. Plank must be stored properly and inspected carefully for defects. • Planks absorb moisture, which increases weight and can reduce strength • Planks are flammable unless chemically treated • Chemical treatment can reduce strength • Spans limited to 10’ with reduction of strength as spans increase • Continuous work deck is not flush with possible trip hazards at laps • Limited widths • Generally not as stiff as metal plank This Technical Bulletin was prepared by members of the SSFI Plank-Platform Section. SSFI is a trade association comprising manufacturers of shoring, scaffolding, forming, suspended scaffolding, and planks-platforms. The institute focuses on engineering and safety aspects of scope products. This bulletin does not purport to be all-inclusive nor to supplant or replace other additional safety and precautionary measures to cover usual or unusual conditions.
