    Fox Features was one of the earliest comic-book publishers during the golden age of comics. Started by Victor Fox and Bob Farell in 1939, reportedly after Fox was working as an accountant for National Periodicals (DC Comics) and saw the sales figures for Action Comics #1. Fox initially hired the the Eisner-Iger studios to produce the creative content for their anthology books including: Mystery Men, Fantastic Comics and Wonderworld Comics. The latter of these titles was re-titled from Wonder Comics after National sued Fox for allegedly copying the Cover feature, Wonderman from Superman. Legendary comics creator Will Eisner, the creator of the character and his one and only (golden age) appearence, was called to testify. Eisner testified that Wonderman was an original creation but that Victor Fox had directly asked him to “Make him his own Superman” Fox lost the case and ceased publication of Wonderman. He also cut ties with the Iger-Eisner studio and hired another comics legend to edit and produce the companies creative work, Joe Simon. Though not exclusively Christian, the graphic novel, The Beast Within, will educate its target audience by using attractive illustrations, relatable issues, and understandable morals in a fictional, biblically inspired story. This thesis will include character designs, artwork, chapter summaries, and a single chapter of a self-written, self- illustrated graphic novel along with a short summary of Christian references and symbols. The novel will follow six half-human, half-animal warriors on their adventure to restore the balance of their world, which has been disrupted by a powerful enemy. I believe in the story of Wonder Woman. I always have. Not the literal baby being made from clay story, but the metaphorical one. I believe in a story where a woman is the hero and not the victim. I believe in a story where a woman is strong and not weak. Where a woman can fall in love with a man, but she doesnʼt need a man. Where a woman can stand on her own two feet. And above all else, I believe in a story where a woman has superpowers that she uses to help others, and yes, I believe that a woman can help save the world. “Wonder Woman was created as a distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to ʻa world torn by the hatred of men.ʼ”1 While the story of Wonder Woman began back in 1941, I did not discover her until much later, and my introduction didnʼt come at the hands of comic books. Instead, when I was a little girl I used to watch the television show starring Lynda Carter, and the animated television series, Super Friends.

Jonason Gregory D. Webster University of Western Sydney University of Florida David P. Schmitt Norman P. Li Bradley University Singapore Management University Laura Crysel University of Florida The Dark Triad of personality is composed of narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism. Despite the common belief that these traits are undesirable, the media is awash with characters that embody the Dark Triad. Characters like Gregory House, M.D., Batman (a.k.a. the Dark Knight), and James Bond all embody these traits and are some of the most popular media franchises today. As entertaining as these characters are, they provide us with a window into the dark side of human nature. Instead of treating the dark side of human nature as inherently maladaptive, we provide an alternative view that, despite their costs, traits like these can confer reproductive and survival benefits for the individual. In so doing, we review the research on the Dark Triad traits and provide a theoretical account for how these traits can confer some positive benefits. To facilitate comprehension, we provide examples taken from the media to show how evolutionary psychology and popular culture intersect. Understanding the various artists and audiences and what Batman means to them is to understand changing trends and thinking in American culture. The character of Batman has developed into a symbol with relevant characteristics that develop and evolve with each new story and new author. The Batman canon has become so large and contains so many different audiences that it has become a franchise that can morph to fit any group of viewers/readers. Our understanding of Batman and the many readings of him gives us insight into ourselves as a culture in our particular place in history.

Thesis: Adab and Humanities Faculty, English Letters Department, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, 2011. The objective of the research in this thesis is to get the description of John Coffey’s character in the film “The Green Mile” based on the Anxiety Disorder Theory in order to find out how Anxiety Disorder affect the character of John Coffey in his daily life, since the writer assumes that the character has undergone anxiety disorder. In the research, the writer uses the qualitative method with descriptive analysis method in analyzing the John Coffey character of the film; the writer would like to analyze the data with anxiety disorder concept. This research uses verbal data and others nonnumeric data; such as dialogue and scene caption as the basic analysis and in solving the research problems Through the observation of the scene, dialogue and the script of the filmmaker gives John Coffey such a dynamic and round character in The Green Mile.
