The charismatic coach plans to stay at the top after leading the 2008-09 Huskies to HUSKY ATHLETICS their first outright Pac-10 Championship since 1953. Romar’s Huskies were 26-9 in 2009 and 14-4 in the Pac- 10 Conference to finish a game ahead of UCLA. He earned Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors for his efforts -- the second time he has been so honored at UW. Washington earned its first-ever No. 4 seed for the 2009 NCAA Tournament. They beat No. 12 seed Missis- sippi State 71-58 in the first round before dropping a close 76-74 decision to No. 5 Purdue.
