Cinema Advertising Campaign Reaches 1.5 Million Moviegoers

This spring, nearly 1.5 million Southern California moviegoers were exposed to organ and tissue donation messages in a reprise of a cinema advertising campaign in six Krikorian Theatres multiplexes throughout the region.

The public awareness campaign, a partnership of OneLegacy, Cassie’s Friends and the San Bernardino County Medical Society, ran from mid-April through mid-July on 72 screens in Buena Park, Chino Hills, Downey, Rancho Mirage, Redlands and San Clemente. Krikorian Theatres generously donated one month of on-screen time in support of the campaign.

The eye-catching slides, three of which appeared intermittently Ge’ Juan Sallee (top) and Jonny Loredo are among the four organ prior to each screening, honored four OneLegacy donors and their donors honored in a Krikorian Theatres cinema advertising campaign. families: Johnny Loredo, Dr. Daw Khin Myint, Bonnie Newman (see Page 1) and Ge’Juan Sallee. On each slide, a photo is accompanied by a quote from their family, the "Donate Life" logo, and the probing questions: "Are you an organ & tissue donor? Have you told your family?"

"When people go to movies they are usually with family or close friends," said Bryan Stewart, communications director at OneLegacy. "We saw this as a perfect place to initiate a conversation about donation. After all, sharing one’s decision is just as important as making one."

The program partners hope to make this an annual campaign timed to coincide with the release of the summer blockbusters.

5 Fields of Gold 2003 Donor Recognition Ceremonies

For the first time, organ donors and their families throughout OneLegacy’s seven-county region were honored at four donor recog- nition ceremonies held across the Southland in March. 1

The theme of the ceremonies, Fields of Gold, was inspired by the recording of Sting’s song of the same name by the late Eva Cassidy.

“By all accounts, families found the events to be an uplifting and meaningful tribute to their loved ones,” said Jeff Fleming, Manager of Family Services for OneLegacy.

Altogether, more than one thousand donor family members hon- ored 170 loved ones at the four ceremonies. 2 3 BAKERSFIELD OneLegacy procurement transplant coordinator Kren Campbell presents OneLegacy Life Bridge Awards to (1) Scarlett Sabin, wife of honoree Mark Sabin, and (2) donor mom Kay LaRue.
