Ingolstadt, 16.08.2016: Under the motto “Football fun for Germany”, Media Markt is stepping up its sponsorship activities in professional football in 2016/17. Just in time for the new season, Media Markt has signed partnership deals with two teams newly promoted to the – SC Freiburg and RB Leipzig – as well as with DSC and Dynamo in the 2nd Bundesliga, and also third-division clubs Hansa Rostock and Rot-Weiß . In addition, the recently expired one-year contracts with 1. FC Köln and VfB Stuttgart have been renewed, too. Our strategy worked perfectly: Media Markt and football enthusiasm don’t just suit each other superbly but also make an outstanding contribution to Media Markt’s brand positioning, which boils down to creating a fun, exciting shopping experience for customers. Our soccer sponsoring is intended to attract fans, offer them added value packed with emotion, and lastingly convey Media Markt’s brand values. For this reason, we are expanding our involvement and have signed additional

As a result of this presence in key Bundesliga regions, in particular the local Media Markt stores are closely involved in the respective sponsoring activities. For this purpose, Media Markt is applying an extensive activation strategy for all partnerships, both regional and national. Implementing a separate activation concept for each club with the collaboration of regional Media Markt stores is also planned. All these activities will be accompanied by extensive promotional work in football-related contexts on TV, the print media, online, mobile and web radio. As far as TV is concerned, this includes commercials during ‘ARD Sportschau’ as well as presenting ‘Alle Spiele, alle Tore’ (‘All matches, all goals’) on Sky. On web radio, Media Markt will be teaming up with SPORT1.fm. Online, Media Markt will for example be appearing as the presenter of the award-winning live ticker of football magazine ‘11FREUNDE’, while mobile activities will include support for the kicker and Onefootball apps.
