Right-hander Parker Dunshee fired 7.1 hitless frames, allowing just one baserunner through the first seven innings. Justin Ferrell made a spot start in place of Forrest Whitley, who was scratched from his Friday assignment. Ferrell tossed two scoreless innings to begin the ballgame. In the third, Astros right-hander Chris Deven- ski allowed a two-run homer to Tyler Ramirez. Ryan Harman entered in the fourth and retired the first nine men he faced. Skye Bolt bucked the trend with a lead-off blast in the seventh for a 3-0 lead. With one on and one out in eighth, the Hounds went to their closer Kyle Finnegan. Two walks loaded the bases but Finnegan struck out Ronnie Dawson to thwart the threat. Corpus Christi’s first hit was a lead-off single by catcher Lorenzo Quintana in the ninth. Randy Cesar followed with a base hit through the right side. Chas McCormick later put the Hooks on the scoreboard by placing an RBI infield single behind second base.

MEDIA CLIPS – September 14, 2017 Rox, D-backs wrap up Wild Card showdown By Jarrid Denney / MLB.com | September 14th, 2017 PHOENIX -- The Rockies will pit Chad Bettis against the D-backs' Zack Godley on Thursday afternoon in Phoenix in the finale of a four-game series featuring the National League Wild Card leaders. Arizona snapped Colorado's six-game winning streak on Wednesday and has a four-game lead on the top spot. Bettis' start on Saturday against the Dodgers brought him his first win of the season and his first since his Aug. 14 return from his battle with testicular cancer. Bettis (1-2, 4.98 ERA) will try to make it two wins in a row when the Rockies take on the D-backs at Chase Field on Thursday. The 28-year-old right-hander held the Dodgers to three earned runs on six hits in his victory. It was the second time in a row that he had held an opponent to three runs. In nine career appearances against the D-backs, Bettis is 1-1 with a 7.30 ERA in 37 innings. Godley (7-7, 3.18 ERA) held the Padres to two runs on four hits over seven innings in a no-decision on Saturday in his last start. Godley has just three wins in eight starts since the start of August, but he has held opponents to four runs or fewer in each of those starts. Things to know about this game • Godley piled up nine strikeouts against the Padres on Saturday, and each of those came via his nasty curveball.

MEDIA CLIPS – September 16, 2017 Rox top Padres, keep footing in Wild Card race By Owen Perkins and Manny Randhawa / MLB.com | 1:07 AM ET DENVER -- In his third start since returning to the Rockies' rotation from the bullpen, Tyler Chatwood tossed 5 2/3 strong innings and helped himself with a two-run single as Colorado defeated the Padres, 6-1, at Coors Field on Friday night. With the victory, the Rockies' lead for the second National League Wild Card spot got a little stronger. The Cardinals, who lost to the Cubs Friday, fell to 3 1/2 games back. The Brewers, however, kept pace at 2 1/2 games back by riding an eight-run eighth inning to a 10-2 win over the Marlins in Miami. Chatwood escaped jams in the first and second innings with double plays, starting the twin killing in the first on a comebacker by Wil Myers. With two on and one out in the second, he got Jabari Blash to ground into a 4-6- 3 double play. Chatwood was chased with two outs in the sixth after Myers homered. "That's been a trademark the last number of outings for Tyler, even the Giants game, where he got some key double plays," Rockies manager Bud Black said. "I remember he struck out [Hunter] Pence with the bases loaded in that start. There's been some at-bats where he's been stressed, but he got the out. And that's the reason why he's put up a lot of zeros." Padres starter Clayton Richard retired the first five Rockies he faced, but gave up a single and a double before an intentional walk that brought Chatwood to the plate.
